Given the use of film directors in the past and a new promo clip coming (hopefully) within 6 months, who could do a good job? I`d be intrested to see what Saville could do with visuals that move (animation, digital effects). Obviously the style would vary depending on the type of music.

I'd go for pixar - it takes them as long to make a movie as NO take to do an album - perfect!

I'd rather it were a montage of Natalie Curtis stills, inlaid with graphics done by Steve on the Mac.

Considering their tendency to make fine artists direct their videos (i.e. Robert Longo-BLT, Phillipe Decoufle-TF...), I'd say that they should go for either Cindy Sherman, Bill Viola or Nam Jun Paik.

Bill Viola's video would be kind of slow, though...

I would prefer to hear the music, videos are just a marketing departments tool. - MTV has kiled real music

Actually had a conversation with a semi-drunken American over the weekend who took great delight in explaning the "genius" of the 'Crystal' video to me: got the impression that it got some serious rotation Stateside, whereas over here I doubt anyone beond the fanbase would remember it....

No, not Jeff (unfortunately). The same pissed yank then tried to tell me that Placebo were better than Joy Division, at which point I lost all patience and called him "a dozy goth twat".

Ho hum.

Whoever can take New Order's videos back to their artsy and mysterious image(pre-Republic days), when just about no one knew what the band looked like and who did what. We really don't need to see Barney jumping around, a la Bizzare Love Triangle at Finsbury. :nonono:

I mean, it would've been ok in the 80s to show the band, but now, lets just let the music speak for iteself :D

Good call spot. That combo would make a good video.

What about Anton Corbijn??? I'm not sure is he has worked with New Order, but I know he had photographed Joy Division at some point.

What about... Stephen Morris?

Or maybe Jonathan Demme again.

Spike Jonze has made music videos before. Lots of them. Hence it would be anything but original and hence not very NO-ish
