Was talking to a member of staff in my works today and just got chatting about music, when he asked who i listened to, i said, obviously, New Order and Joy Division amongst others.... to which he told me that growing up in Macclesfield he had been in the same class as Ian Curis. I was amazed!! Apparently, my colleague, Tony, had bought all Ians Deep Purple records from him (probably helped pay for solvents) and they all used to nickname him "Hammy".... He mentioned a load of other names(that ive read about in Deb Curtis's book etc), like Oliver Cleaver (who he said was a bit of a bully) and Kelvin Briggs. I asked him if he remembered Stephen Morris, and he didnt, but said he would ask a few other friends he was still in touch with... I asked Tony...."So what was Ian like then?" to which he replied... "He was always a bit different. In fact he was bloody odd"
Its a small world isnt it...
