Everything has already been said about that. IT IS A JOY DIVISION SONG, as its release on "Still" and the demo in "Heart and Soul" prouves it.

Last time we had this discussion, it was agreed that it was a Joy Division song that was also a New Order song. Then again, it is an Almanso song really, the International Date Line being what it is and all that.....

Ceremony is a Joy Division song. New Order took it and made their own version.

at least, that is what I think.

From what ive know Ian Curtis Didnt play guitar to well let alone wrote guitar progressions and riffs... So i say its Both. cause the same fucking people are in it

Indeed it is. Strange, I get a page full of 'Ceremony' threads when I search, including this thread, but not the original thread itself?

Same here, but I remembered that it was Murv that started it, so did a search on his user name and up it popped...

Let's agree here... It's a song by Bernard Sumner, Peter Hook, Stephen Morris and Ian Curtis...

If the surviving members wouldn't have changed their name, you wouldn't ask this question anyways.

It's the same damned band, so this isn't a question... it's written by Joy Division, but it's a New Order song.

I'm more concerned about your search facility not working properly, Nicos. :skeptic:

You might like to think about your tasteless comments about Ian Curtis and Gillian then if you are the fan you claim to be.

The argument that JD and NO are the same band doesn't really hold much weight when the members themselves don't see it that way. I quote Hooky speaking in the late 80s about the name change:

"We felt it wasn't Joy Division anymore so it was quite natural to change the name."

Au contraire, I'm younger than you, and I'm the bigger NO fan, and we can settle this with a showdown at Chatsworth Park, Mason Park, Stoney Point, the Munch Box, wherever :p.

BTW Don't claim you are the biggest, youngest fan because there will always be someone younger and more obsessed than you.

I can only go with what New Order say. On both my original 12# and 7# the song is credited to Joy Division.
