Its sacralidge to play it any other way
Sounds best in a large, cold room. E.g. a nightclub at 3AM with the aircon and smoke machines on full, off pristine vinyl on a set of Technics decks with big, big speakers set up to 11....
Also sounds fabulous in the middle of a house set, it just shines out and takes over, never fails to get the party going, the only other track as old that can do that is probably I Feel Love. FWIE, the live version off PFD sounds f*ing unholy in a club ( not that I abuse my position as sound engineer at gigs or anything :) )
The record has the same club impact as it has done for 21 years, it doesn't sound dated. Live, however, it has well and truly run its course. If only they could accept that.
"Our darkness" 12"mix by Anne Clarke is also a great dance tune from the same period around 83, in fact it sounds less dated than Blue Monday.
Its my eldest's favorite NO track (shes 7) Burned a CD for her the other day of NO & monaco she likes: 1: Crystal (get ready) 2nd favourite 2: Let's Go (Retro) 3: True Faith (In Session) 3rd favourite 4: Fine Time 5: 60 Miles an Hour 6: Ceremony 7: Brutal 8: Everyone Everywhere 9: Round & Round (album ver) 10: Regret (album) 11: World (album) 12: Such a Good Thing 13: What do you Want From me (monaco) 14: Sweet Lips (monaco) 15: Isolation (In Session) 16: Blue Monday (original) favourite
80 minutes of child friendly NO - no arguements in the car
(except the wife hates it
)
. . . still, not bad for a 7 year old
Presumably you've been with the wife for more than 7 years, then. Thats more than enough time for any sane person to be indoctrinated into NO - you sure you've been trying hard enough ![]()
As goes BM - was playing it when phone rang. Didn't answer. BM must be played in completition to have its full effect...
