just heard on the radio today that the brazilian football player roberto carlos has booked U2 to play at his wedding for an "undisclosed sum" ,he could have had "sugarbabes" for £140,000 or "atomic kitten" for £55,000.
they rhymed a few other non entities as well but it got me thinking HOW MUCH for the order?
would it be a six figure sum? or a all the beer n pies you can handle deal?.
it would be interesting to know how much it would cost to get em to play at say a (neworderonline)gig wouldnt it.
and as im having a garden party next year for my wifes 30th ,if its pies n pints they want im booking em.![]()
how much??

Wasn't it rumoured that when they were on their post Republic vacation someone in America offered them a million dollars to play at a wedding. Urban myth or Rob Gretton selling the legend? If I had big bucks I'd certainly put in a bid but I'd want a say in the set list!
There was a wedding reception at Old Trafford for the Move festival, so Bunnymen, Doves and Norder did play a post wedding bash.

About 40 minutes - & they'd be too pissed to play:D But, thats the price of love (of NO) isnt it?
Funny you should mention this. The Nagoya gig in 1987 was a wedding reception.
Most recent quote I had for a gig was £17k, which seems quite reasonable really for 90 minutes' work for 4 people plus road crew doing a bit more.
I know that in the 80s they did a lot of benefit gigs for various charities, whether they would still do charitable causes I don't know.
I would guess that re: order and Digital would be able to play anyone's wedding reception if required though, provided a decent feed and fit bridesmaids were on the rider!
Hooky DJ set is 1000 UK pounds + business class tickets for Mr & Mrs Hook + hotel for 2 nights... in case you are interested ;)
DJiyng is DJiyng. But, to play just for a wedding? Well, they're not an unknown band. That's kindda ridiculous to me.
In the other hand, well, they are U2, so...![]()
It depends if they are actually together and touring/playing. If not and they couldn't be arsed then no amount of money will get them to play.

A grand is quite cheap, when you think the likes of Sasha are on £35,000+ for a 3 to 4 hour set. (im NOT joking by the way...)

But I'd assume that Hooky is as good at beat-mixing in key as Sasha is at playing (a real) bass... Plus Sasha can fill an arena spinning records, while Hooky fills a nightclub. ![]()
BTW: Sasha did 3 or 4 gigs at the millenium shift, travelling between them in a leased helicopter. That's a super-star DJ.

800 notes for cash. Allegedly.
It would be a little dream of mine to have a private NOOL concert actually....
Could be very intimate! no more than 500 persons... little venue, just having fun.

Well if you can persuade those 500 people to pay £35 each for a ticket then your dream may well be realised if Timbos figures are still in the right ballpark.
Well...the jackpot in one of the lottery drawings here is up to $106 million...I guess I could toss a dollar that way to see what I can come up with!!!
