truly magnificent.

Unusually devoid of all whoops, yells and cries during this live performance, it makes it one of his, if not his best live vocal performance of a JD song.

And indeed the Peel session version from the same era...
Unfortunately, the recent live versions are in danger of turning it into a joke. The way he drawls and slurs through it is most upsetting.
"Don wok a-weh"
Very poor.
The LA 2001 gig with Billy C has an good version without Barney messing it up. The Cologne 2001 is also good as well.

I honestly thought this the first time I saw Reading as well. ![]()
That's the point I was trying to make on an earlier thread... Barney seems to have adopted this lazy slurred style of singing that I can't stand. Reminds me of Bobby Gillespie a little at times!
He sung like it throughout Twisted Tenderness, on the Chemical Brothers single Out of Control and throughout Get Ready. ![]()

Dunno how many times I've mentioned this on here, absolutely brilliant live version. The whole day was just brilliant.....except for WIFM;)

Mungesdorfer :
After Atmosphere and Regret Barney complains about the sound and says something about cutting Hooky out of the sidefills and he can't hear Phil.
Crystal "This is our new single Crystal, I hope you like it so much you go out and buy it.....we need your support"
Your Silent Face "Are you having a good time here in Cologne?....It doesn't fucking look like it. You better sort your fucking lives out or we're gonna play something you don't like (song starts) This is a very Bavarian song.......think of the mountains in Bavaria....skiing.....naked sauna's"
Touched By The Hand Of God "Do you like Dance Music?.....No? Do you like marching music? (laughing)....Ok this is Touched By The Hand Of God" End of song "Thank you very much yer a polite audience"
Temptation "This is a song you've probably never heard of, looking at you" (Hooky laughing) But in England it's a very famous song called Temptation....and it's about doing bad things which you obviously never do, like picking yer nose and forgetting to cut yer toenails"
(After) 60 Miles An Hour "Fuckin Ell you liked that one...what did we do right there?"
Blue Monday "Right you might have heard this eporial old chestnut, it's called, erm, Blue Monday, and it's about the porno channels in German Hotels....which are absolutely disgusting"
After Blue Monday "Keep yer dick in yer pants, bye bye"
"Okay, this is a song called Bizarre Love Tri...[mic cuts out]. Oh, fuck. And, uh..."
"Ok, this is a...a new song off our new album, which is called Get Ready. It's called 60 Miles An Hour, which is the speed limit in England actually. So if you ever go to England, be careful how far... how fast you drive, because it's a lot faster than your speed limit, which I believe I believe is, eh, only a hundred kilometers an hour. Very interesting point there."
Thought these two were funny too. :p
