New Chem Bros v New New Order

Interesting that two of my fave acts have albums due to street around the same time in early 2005, but whereas The Chemical Brothers have already announced their single, video and album details, released artwork samples and tour dates AND are offering a sneak listen to the single via digital download next week, we know next to nada about New Order.

Does this suggest that the NO album may not drop as soon as we think (well it's a tradition really isn't it..) or does it merely reiterate how lazy / unorganised / insignificant to London Records / secretive the band is these days?

Listen to last night's (Wed) show and at about the 14 min mark you'll get your first listen to 'Galvanise'. Only the radio edit, but it sounds like they've returned to their roots. More Dust Brothers-era sounds, mid-tempo electro beats, Middle Eastern effects, upfront rap from Q-Tip, big breakdown, signature synthline. Smokin'.

Looking forward to the extended mix previewed on Pete Tong's show this Friday night.

New Order? I'm looking forward to anything.

BTW, Al, those Chems tickets go on sale at 9am tomorrow morning... Another Ticketweb fiasco, me thinks...

I certainly wouldn't say no to the Order at Wolves Civic - very intimate by their recent standards....

Chemical Brothers as a dance act are more likely to let their stuff out first though aren't they? They'll be releasing promos to DJs to play well in advance of the tracks making the album etc, whereas NO will be probably just release one single 2 weeks before the album is launched.

They're also far more organised when it comes to touring which ain't difficult

Wolves Civic Hall would be nice.

Caught them there in 86...I think it was the night before Bradford St Georges. Not the best set...but a cracking venue.

However this size of venue wont go down well with the retirement fund

EBW is just a name they put white label promo`s out under.

yea EBW #7 came out a bit ago... it's still "new" but not "new new" if you know what I mean. Like it's within 2 or 3 months old

btw - so are there a ton of NO fans that are also Chem's fans? and is it just due to "Out of Control" and "Here to Stay"?

It made sense for the Chemical Brothers to do a track with one of the New Order guys... they've always noted New Order as an influence. The Chemical Brothers were probably going to the Hacienda every night in the late 80s being a Manchester group anyway. I actually got into New Order quite late really (say early to mid 90s) and by that stage I was already well into dance music. I got into the Chemical Brothers after hearing 'Life Is Sweet' from their first album around 1995/96.
