Hooky has cancelled his Shetland gig after reportedly hurting his hand. He is said to have had emergency surgery today. Don't know any details of the injury. Had booked to go myself and have had this notification off the North Star today. Clearly would hope it's nothing too serious and the big fella's back in circulation again soon. He is hoping to go to Shetland at a later date.

Lucky the album is all recorded. I hope it won't hold up a tour.

That's a bit cold is it not? Not even a "get well soon"? I'd rather Hooky take all the time he needs to fully heal his hand rather than risking long term damage or recurring pain simply to start a tour on time. :nonono: I know everyone's looking forward to new gigs, but putting the band's health at risk so a tour can be started soley to satisfy certain fans gig lust is pretty selfish IMO. I personally don't consider New Order a touring machine first and foremost. I'd rather they knocked out a superb, timeless record than perform Ceremony for the zillionth time.

Though I'm sure they'll be back on the road in time.

Ally.

Well first of all, Ronald was born in a rather cold West European country. Secondly, I'm sure he thinks the same way as you. And he wishes Peter to get well. Don't be rude on him. :oh:

Hey, please don't read anything that nasty into my post, that was just my roundabout way of saying I hope that it isn't anything too serious. Of course I wish him a full recovery, and yes I don't want him to aggrevate the injury in any way by coming and playing on tour too soon

As yet this this is still unconfirmed news and has not yet appeared on David's site who is friendy with the Hookster.

John also sent me the email he got. I'm waiting for confirmation myself (sorry, but I already had Hooky telling us he had to cancel a gig and he didn't, so I'd rather wait)

Hi John,

I'm afraid i have some extremely bad news for you. The Peter Hook gig in December has been cancelled today due to Hooky badly injuring his hand yesterday. I am lead to believe that he is undergoing emergency surgery today.

His agent is trying to fix up a replacement - either Rick Witter from Shed 7 or Andy Rourke from The Smiths. Neither is a truly worthy replacement but the best we can do under these disappointing circumstances.

I have been assured that when Hooky's hand heals then he will play in Shetland but no date has been set as yet.

I hope you will still make the trip to Shetland, i will ensure you receive free entry to our clubs on Friday and Saturday to make up for this cancellation.

Joy Division / New Order are my favourite bands of all time, and after spending a fortune to watch them all over Britain I was really looking forward to meeting Hooky on my home patch, so i know how disappointed you will be too.

Regards,

Alan

Can he not put ecords on a turntable with his other hand? Hardly difficult is it, I mean it ain't like he will be playing bass.

Turntable? You're soooo last century, Mike. Hooky mixes on CDs only. Actually, no, he doesn't attempt any mixing whatsoever. He just stops and starts CDs.

I mailed the Promoter Mr Mac, he was willing to give me the £500 appearance fee's, but he couldnae meet my ryder of 8 grams, 3 crates of Stella, 10% of the bar and 3 Blonde Hookers all called Deborah.....apparently there's only 2 blonde hookers called Deborah in Shetland.

C'est la vie, next time I'm looking for a gig though Gary I will gie you a shout:thumb:

i wonder if it´s the same finger that he got injured (the sock incident, remember?) that got worst. :confused2:

that happens when you don´t listen to the doctors and keep using socks all the time! :evil4:

Rumor is telling that Hooky was in Canada trying to wave at George Bush without his five fingers when he hurt one of them.
