How many concerts have they played? Is there a tape from every concert or are there some gigs that haven't been taped or documented in some other format?

Great question! Welcome to the madhouse.

I guess they must have played getting on for 500 gigs now as New Order. There's quite a few US ones, particularly from 1989 that have never surfaced, but I can only think of two or three British shows that have never seen a tape surface (the debut gig at the Beach Club, plus St.Andrews Uni 1981 and Cambridge 1985). Almost every year a new gem turns up though, this year it was the Provinssirock Festival from Seinajoki in 1982 recording that turned up, plus the master copy of Berlin 1981.

Thank's Old Monkey. It seems like it's almost impossible to get a complete New Order concert collection.

It is impossible, yes. Several shows were either not recorded by anyone or were only recorded by the band/crew, and unless we can one day sit down with Steve Morris and organise it so that hitherto unavailable tapes get accidentally leaked, I can't see it ever happening.

OldMonkey....

is the master tape of the Berlin 81 gig you mentioned a good quality master tape? I have this gig on vinyl as a bootleg I think it's called 'Off The Wall' or something. The quality is pretty good. Was there only a bad copy of the gig previously available...?

It's immaculate! The guy who taped it, BoomBooom (and who also did New Order Berlin 84 and some others) was using a Uher reel-to-reel, and he took a direct feed from the origial reels. Ain't posted your Darien Lakes CD yet (being just about as slow as an old fart these days), I'll stick this Berlin 81 in as well . It's fabulous!

I missed that one on STG, much to my chagrin. I wonder if some kind soul wants to reseed it?
