New Order Prepare Sweetener by Paul Cashmere

New Order have christened their next album 'Sugarcane'.

The album, due for release in February 2005, was produced by Tore Johansson who has worked previous with Saint Etienne.

'Sugarcane' will be the follow-up to the successful 'Get Ready', which was released in 2001.

There are currently no live dates scheduled for New Order although Peter Hook and Bernard Sumner scheduled for a DJ set at the Arc Club, in Brighton UK on New Year's Eve

Just in case you didn't find the error right there, this information is taken off NewOrderOnline I'm 100% sure... they just didn't read it right...

There is a SONG titled Sugarcane and produced by Tore Johanson, NOT THE DAMNED ALBUM.

You never know, the Ordah could be lazy and name the album after a song on the album. I surely hope nt because it's quite dreadful.

Yeah,just read it on Ch4 before i logged on. Its still giving Feb 2005 as a release date. Its looking more likely that its true. Im all for Feb,but "Sugarcane"?...

One can only assume its inspired by Savilles artwork for said project?

The least I want is a clownish title. But I believe it's as the same as with those titles for Technique: when they had no proper names for demos and early versions but then came up with neat titles finally.

Yeah but knowing NO as we do...we must pose this to ourselves....

How many of those tracks will ever see the light of day??? I'm betting a few will be outright scrapped and lost in oblivion...or Hooky's closet!!

I would like them to release several NEW SINGLES with all new B-SIDES and good cover artwork.20 tracks seems quite a lot though so there is HOPE.

I don't think they scrap many finished ideas. In 1992 Barney was quoted as saying they were working on "12 Ideas". Sure enough, Republic had 11 tracks and it's singles featured 1 non-album track (Vicious Circle).

And also Hooky in this month's Mixmag - 20+ songs, apparently...

Also, the new album is going to be more New Order-like, as opposed to "Get Ready" which was like Joy Division.

If someone actually has this copy of Mixmag, could they post it up here? (I only briefly read it in WH Smiths!) :evil4:
