I can't tell if that picture is circa-Republic or around the time of the '98 "comeback".

By the smiles (and waistlines) I'm thinking it's the latter....

Yeah, trainspotting: even though my infatuation has faded since I was genuinely obsessed with them, I can still usually date photographs of the band solely by the haircuts they're sporting.

A bit sad, I know. But I bet Al Jarvis can date them by what Barney's wearing....

This is one of a series of photos from 1998, think they featured in Uncut or similar such mag as part of an interview with the band. Have a feeling that the pics were taken near Steve and Gillian's, and some of the photos were of Hooky's tattoos on his legs. I think we've had a thread on this before, I think I remember being put right on something! Al will know.

Total shite from me......just checked the photos archive and the photos I am referring to are from Time Out in 2002, and don't feature Gillian. This is clearly an older pic, no tats on Hooky's legs, all looking younger and thinner. Prob is 98.

1998. Hooky had longer hair in 1993.

All I can say is I see a star between Stephen's legs and ... oh my God a between Barney's.

Hmmm.This a difficult one.I`ve seen some pictures that were taken in similar surroundings- country lanes, by a fenced field and stuff.

Gillian does have long hair like she did for WIM. In all the Repubic pics I've seen its quite short. There you go dating pics by haircuts.
