OK, I have to put my opinion of the new album up...here goes:

Crystal: I love this track it has the classic New Order guitar and bass..I do have to agree that I wish it said "you can buy it with money" instead of "you CAN'T buy it with money" would have been more new order believeable..

60 MPH: I also like this song, it has a lot to do with an experience I had.. :P Something about the way Barney says "in the dead of night it will be alright" just gets to me...

Close Range: This song reminds me of 60 MPH, I don't know if I am the only one. I just wish there was more of Hooky's bass.. A great track though!

Primitave Notion: I LOVE THIS SONG!!!! Something about Hooky's bass (can I faint now?) This sounds a bit like Electronic and I love it!

Rock the Shack: Now I wasn't to big on this one at first but it is growing on me, not too bad..

Run Wild: I agree that this song is a bit out of place on the album and I can't really believe Barney saying "if Jesus comes to take your hand I won't let go." But as a girl I think it is a nice song.

Slow Jam: I think if the song started off with the guitar it would be better, but that's my opinion. I do like the lyrics, I can relate to them..

Someone like you: I LOVE THIS SONG TOO!!! This is one of my favorites. I love the guitar and the drums n bass feel is good. I like the combination. I can listen to this over and over in my car... wonderful track.

Turn My Way: I am not a huge fan of The Smashing Pumpkins but I am one of the few who do like Billy's voice. I do like however that he only really does back up. I love Barney's voice. These lyrics had to have been written about my life, that is how I feel... I also love this song!

Vicious Streak: Again Hooky's bass makes me melt! For some strange reason I feel like this song can be about someone loving someone so much or wanting to kill someone. Maybe it is just me! Wonderful track! (although when I listen to it I hear a bit of a ringing sound in my ear, like my door is open in my car, very faint.. am I the only one that hears this? It is not during the whole song... although I DO hear whale like sounds during Avalanche that I finally got my boyfriend to hear.. I guess I just have really good hearing.)

Well I think I got all 10. All in all I think this album is wonderful. Turn my way, 60 mph, and Crystal were wonderful live as well. I think this will become a classic!

I bet Marco has let me down and obtained this album?

After reading these posts this album sounds a shit loads better than Republic? - when Republic came out I couldn't speak for a month I was so gobsmacked at its 'average'ness' - now I play it and think, hmmm, I like World a lot now, Regret is sublime, Ruined in a Day good and so on and so on.

As people are saying good stuff now about this album, looks good for the future.

folks, why do all of you like "Republic" so much ??? I personally think that it's by far their worst album (except for "Regret" and maybe "Special"). Almost everything that made NewOrder so charming and special is missing here ! Hooky's bass is almost absent, Barney's vocals are too perfect sung, the production is too clean and so on... i always liked the imperfectionism in their work. Think of Low-Life, where Barney is out of tune on most every track. That made it so personal. You always could find some mistakes in the production and these mistakes, this natural thing made NewOrder so special to me. Republic sometimes sounds like the PetShopBoys to me (Young offender, Liar). I haven't heard "Get Ready" yet, but when i listen ot the 30second snippets i'm really looking forward buying this record the next monday, and for sure it'll be one of my favourites! For all those who blame NewOrder for tracks like "Slow Jam" or "Rock the Shack", just ask yourself what you were expecting of the new record ??? Another "Bizarre Love Triangle", another "Temptation". If they had done so, you would've blamed them for ripping off/ copying themselves. I really do like how the things have developed. "Crystal" and "Behind Closed Doors" do prove that New Order are still lightyears ahead of such crap like Travis. Amen ;-)

i agree that this sounds like New Order from 81-86 but the difference is the equipment. Technology has advanced and so have the skills of the musicians on this album. New Order will never sound like they did on Low-Life again primarily because the synths and production software they use is infinitely better than what was available in the 80's. Barney finally learned how to sing as well and for that, i'm thankful. Listening to the BBC concert from 87 makes me cringe. how wasted was he? its almost unlistenable except for YSF and Age of Consent.

Ok Seb...what is with the blank post... JUST KIDDING :) (I had to say that)

I will let everyone know that me (not being a hacker) downloaded the songs from audiogalaxy and burned them about a week or so before Area One and therefore knew all of the songs ;)

Of course I will still purchase the album, as with Crystal I have found that the ones I have are not the original. Not like I thought they were going to be...

Well it is going to hold me over until October....

I'M READY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well first off some here know that I HATE IT HERE...I WANT TO LEAVE SOON...

Sorry, maybe that was too hostile...anyway, I do not like it here at all... I really don't feel like I belong here because there is nobody that I can talk to about New Order but a computer screen. But really, New Order sounds wonderful here and I am very grateful for my health!

Well I guess California, April (meaning to open, A FLOWER), and a Daisy, a flower...seem to go together..well lets just say I match..I don't know..

april: would you rather live somewhere were it´s could and rainy most of the year? -i think most of NO songs sound best when it´s raining outside no joke

Maybe the early stuff sounds better in the rain, but there is surely no better album on earth better to listen to under a blue sky and blazing sun than Technique?

TECHNIQUE? NO recorded something after 86? :D don´t know why, but those NO guitar-songs always remind me of the rainy days in late september... home from school, no girlfriend, no money.... lalala even the songs from TECHNIQUE

Just can't stop listening to Get Ready very addictive...

For me the songs just keep playing in my head even when I'm not listening to them in any real way.

Damn... all I've heard was Crystal and the stuff they played at the concert...not sure if I can wait until the postman, or the UPS guy or what ever, delivers my copy...oh the agony

You read my mind...I hate nice and sunny hot weather :(, I would rather it be rainy :) .. or hazy... I love going into Santa Monica..for some reason when you get off the freeway all you see are low clouds..ahh what a nice day in Santa Monica

(those who live in southern California know what I am talking about)

There are a lot of strange things/people here that is true. Honestly I would rather be cold than hot... sometimes when you are too hot there is nothing you can do about it...oh the agony! :p
