hey all. i've been looking for a digital version of Dubvulture (the B-side of the Subculture 12") for a LONG time. Does anyone know where I could find a (legal) release of this track? I've searched Napster, iTunes etc but to no avail... any help would be gratefully received, thanks bulldog3d

it's an amazing track, on the B-side of the UK 12" of Subculture. It's (as you might expect) a dub-ish version of Subculture, except that the bassline sorta goes out of synch and it's... just... so... darn good......
Digital haven't played it yet. I've sequenced Sub-culture, but it won't sound like the dub version ![]()

It was on the cassette of Substance but left off the CD. So i have the tape & the 12" but no way of getting it onto CD for you. Could always send you a tape if all else fails! You can listen to the 30 second clip here: http://media.neworderonline.com/audio/wma/neworder\_dubvulture12inch.wma
Aside: Looking at the Substance trackilstings i see a 10.41 version of True Faith called True Dub was listed on the 1987 Pollygram cassette release. Anyone got it? is it any good?
phwoarrrrrrr
what a tantalising snatch....
thanks for all the leads fellas ![]()

Originally posted by Ronald Kirsch I also quite like Touched By the Hand of Dub. For some reason that wasn't on the cd single.
...you won't believe it Ron, but it' on 'Blue Monday '88' CD-Single (PolyGram 870354-2)...

I somehow managed to miss that release. Got the 12" though. Actually I think it never made it to Canberra. Now why the heck would they pair that with BM88.
...because maybe it simply was the next release after that... ...btw., can you get a better hand on Japanese releases ?, because:
CDSi 3": JP 1987 (Factory/Nippon Columbia 10CY-8010) 3:40 Touched by the Hand of God 4:10 Touched by the Hand of Dub
and
CDSi 5": JP 1988 (Factory/Nippon Columbia 15CY-5017) 7:02 Touched by the Hand of God 5:30 Touched by the Hand of Dub
cheers, The Saviour.
I have the Substance double cassette release and I recently did a transfer using a good quality Nakamichi tape deck to my PC. I did Dub-vulture, Shellcock, Vicious Circle (NewOrder mix) from the RIAD MC, and Blue Monday-95 (Hawtin Mix) from the BM-95 MC. I adjusted the treble levels and normalised the files as best as possible, I was pretty pleased with the audio results.
On the other hand, I just realised why I'd done the cassette transfers
I was utterly, utterly bored and spotted the cassettes gathering dust in a cupboard (Long winter afternoon y'know) After I burned the CD I quickly realised the only decent track is Vicious Circle and the rest are pretty boring mixes. No wonder they were left off the CD ESPECIALLY Dub-vulture, it really really looses it towards the end and the intro drum beat sounds like it was recorded in a bathroom. Not one of New Order's finest mixes.

There's also a longer version of Touched by the Hand of Dub on some issues of the Salvation! soundtrack. It's called Touched by the Hand of God Remix but it's basically the dub version with an extra 2 1/2 minutes of music at the beginning.
yeah, like i said, Dubvulture really really loses it towards the end and the intro drum beat sounds like it was recorded in a bathroom. One of New Order's finest mixes :p
