Theres this warsaw cd i never knew of except now, it has 17 (5 bonus tracks) of the early warsaw demos of 1977. Is it worth getting even for a Joy Division/ New order fan?
btw, is that Ian when he was a young lad in the cover?

Yes it's worth getting. It's the unreleased album they did for RCA, "As You Said" from the free flexi plus the five Warsaw tracks (or four if you subscribe to the "You're No Good For Me" isn't by them at all theory).
The RCA tracks are great, all different to the ones that ended up on official releases. No Love Lost and Transmission are particularly fine in my opinion.
You shouldn't need to pay any more than $25 Canadian for it.
And no, that's not Ian on the cover. Silly.
...track 1 to 11 are the 'RCA sessions' recorded on May 3-4, 1978 at the Arrow Studios in Manchester; these songs were supposed to be their first album; meanwhile three songs of them were released on the 'Heart And Soul' Box... ...track 12 is the third untitled song of the 'Komakino' flexi disc, recorded 1980; this song appears also on the 12' NEW ORDER - 'Video 5-8-6' from 1997... ...track 13 to 17 are the 'Warsaw demos' recorded on July 18, 1977 at the Pennine Studios in Oldham, and they weren't released yet...

I picked up the same CD for £10 a couple of years ago at a record fair. Definitely worth having, and I'm one of the one's who subscribes to the theory that YNGFM is definitely a Warsaw track:D
Why do you believe "You're No Good For Me" is not a Warsaw track?
a) Because it's not listed in the "Heart & Soul" booklet, while the other four tracks are b) Because Peter Hook (the nostalgia man himself) said he didn't remember recording that song when a fan asked him to autograph a bootleg c) Because this song is not available in the bootlegs from the early 80's and only surfaced a few years later d) Because it's SHITE. It's so terribly bad, even for the Warsaw standards e) All of the above
amazon.ca has it for less than 25 canadian, ill get it with m y monaco, revenge, and other two orders.
I've wondered about this myself. I think it's Ian singing though...there was speculation that the guitar playing was too *good* 
to be Bernard's, but I'm really not sure. If it is Warsaw, I wonder why this track was held back longer than the rest, was it hoarded or just not on the earlier pressings. The production (or lack of it!) sounds similar to the other tracks, but I'm not sure if that means much.

I have the cd. I like the early warsaw demos. Warsaw demo is great. You can dance to these songs. I can feel Ian's angst on the 5 bonus tracks. I dont know why these songs were not released on album or single/s-side. I am sure with the new Joy Division can clean up the song and do well on them. One thing I dont like of the cd is poor sound quality. What do you expect, 1977 -8 recordings off of a demo tape from that period, at least they could remaster the songs.
