I'm sure I just heard Age of Consent on Wayne's World 2 but it sounded like another version. Can anyone shed some light on this?

I think it's just a cover, but our boys and young lady were given "mad props" in the film's closing credits.
It's a cover, probably by some unknown movie studio musicians. Sources close to the President say it is because the filmmakers couldn't afford the rights. Which leads me to think, why the fook do music rights for movies cost so damn much? It's free publicity, dammit!
Very good question, Your Holiness. Also heard a cover of Laid by James as the credits rolled from some recent movie, can't quite recall exactly what, but it was something like American Wedding.
Apparently, it's also the expense of music rights that have made the DVD sets of Northern Exposure so expensive to buy, I'm sure that packaging the sets in little parkas doesn't save any money either....

It's been years since I watched that movie but I seem to recall it was a faithful instumental version. Movie credits and the IMDB website only list songwriting credits. Could this have been New Order with an otherwise unavailable version of the track?
Just enjoy it for Bobby Slayton's small role as a Migrant Worker hawking Watermelons. If you know his act and reputation, you'll see and know why that inside joke is so funny. (he's considered the very last of the old school-Catskills-styled, comedians).
