Hello everybody,

Once again, I'd love to wish you a happy new year 2005, I was quite sick last week, so I didn't really had the chance to do so.

2005 will be big for New Order as you all know, and we'll get prepared for it, I'm working hard on a new interface for the forums, I enhanced some areas of the website, and I'll keep the pace until the end of march because I believe we'll have tons of newbies coming in.

Another feature I'd love to introduce will be NewOrderOnline Radio, you guessed it, it's a weekly internet radio show that I will host quite soon on Retroforward Radio.

My goal is to play 1h of miscellaneous material and one live gig per week for a while.

One thing I'd love is to have members building up playlist and requesting gigs, if I don't have it, I'll try to have it by then.

The show, still unscheduled, will have a rebroadcast in each "time slice", so basically it will be broadcasted in a time to accomodate people from America, Europe and Asia.

Now we just need to find a schedule for this so we can start, the sooner the better. Of course since I wish to be sure everything is legal, we'll double check.

Thanks everybody.

That's interesting. But I've never experienced to listen to "internet" radio, I hope it'll work. What do you mean by "miscellaneous stuff"? Are you going to play Wire and the Fall?

I meant studio material, rarities and remixes... there are other shows to play other bands ;)

Great idea

Do you mean you'd be playing past New Order gigs?

I see. But that's great! What about the side-projects? Will they be in the playlist?

Yes, bootleg recordings as you are aware there isn't many live cds available.

Of course...

I do have live gigs from the side projects, as well as Joy Division ones.

Can anybody name a program that can copy music from the radio? Free if possible? It would be really nice to rip Kafty off the radio to last me until the single comes out!

New Retroforward Radio streaming server should be ready today. So, prepare for the premiere of New Order Online radio very soon!

Depending on your OS and the method of streaming there are a number of ways. There is a prog somwhere called stream ripper that can do mp3(shoutcast). TBH the best way to it is fire up a sound recording program ( something better than the default windows recorder is a damned good idea...sound forge, cool edit, wavelab....though they are slight overkill for what u need.) And set our soundcard's record input to "stereo mix" or "what you hear" ( depends on whether you use the windows mixer applet or some proprietry mixer as to what it is called). knock it into record, play yer radio station....and FFS turn off your windows sounds while you do it or you;re certain to get a CLONK! right in the middle of something. Another option is to get winamp to use it's disk writer output plugin but i'm not sure it is enabled for streaming, and I'm pretty sure you can't "split" the sound, so you either hear it OR record it. It may be possible to pick up the file winamp is writing and play it with win media player or simmillar, but windows can be a real arsehole about lettting you read from a file that's open for writing, particularly if said file is a pipe ( or whateve passes for a pipe in Dosland).

for linux... Set xmms to disk writer ouput, give it the radio URL, tell it to write to /some/file/somewhere.wav then just pop a terminal and do play /some/file/somewhere.wav if your machine is fast enough you can sneakily ouput it thru an mp3 encoder to save you doing that as a seperate step.

That looks like a really cool setlist.

Unfortunately, 8pm eastern is a little early on the West Coast and I missed it.

When will they replay that ??

Thanks

Suppose one could just plug a cassette recorder into the speaker line to record.

Old fashion...
