Northern Americans (and others) making The Trip?

This may be a bit premature, but if New Order decide not to tour the States (no surprise if they don't), how many of us North Americans seriously plan on making the trip across the pond mid-year to catch them in the act? (This also goes for any other people in distant odd areas of the globe.)

I know I'd like to go, for one. Who's with me?

If I have the money at the time I would go, but I highly doubt it. I'm praying for a tour date in LA/the OC/SD.

I am planning to do so, now I just need to check if I need a passport or not, since I'm living in a Commonwealth country...

Otherwise, I better get on it soon ;)

Well, myself and the LadyBear are planning a UK/France visit, but not until September...but I'll see if I can bring that date forward a little when the tour details are announced. CTB :bear:

i would love to travel to europe, seeing as i've never been across the atlantic; seeing new order live would be a great reason to do so. however, i just don't have the finances to weather a trip overseas.

Remember NOT to spend ALL your lives worrying about MONEY.If you get the chance to come over DO IT!Otherwise you have the REST OF your lives to REGRET it.Beg,steal(ROCKET's way) or BORROW.Get a PASSPORT and GET over here.Nor everyone is AFRAID of AMERICANS.Go on lads, treat yourself. You come on EARTH with NOTHING and LEAVE with NOTHING.So don't WORRY be HAPPY.My credit card will take another BATTERING but my son will INHERIT the BILL when i leave this mortal coil. What is the point of having KIDS if you can't USE them. That's what my dad used to say.Still paying off his CO-OP bill from the 1960's. RELAX and DO IT. Regards Rocket Mick :D

I needed a passport to do to Cardiff by Ryanair, despite the fact that as an Irish citizen the UK have no legal way of stopping me enter their country, and I have the right to live, work and vote there as if a British citizen. Airlines are wankers.

(I had a passport anyway, but....)

You don't need a passport, do you? Not from the UK to Ireland? (Confess, it's a long time since I made that trip). You just need photographic ID, surely? You need that just to fly from London to Newcastle these days. It's been the case for two years now.

I'm trying to scrape together money to go. I checked online for plane ticket prices and it looks like it'll be a bit under $700. egad.

Be warned that the UK doesn't have a good track record on admitting people called McKevin though - you may have to drop the Mac bit for the trip! :ignore:  :evil4: All the same, you'll still be welcome to join the posse. We promise not to get you drunk and bagless like Jeff!

Hehe thanks. It's so kind of you not to hold my name against me. :D I'm sure you're even kind enough to foot the bill for the trip to the uk.

Could probably sort you the Tube fare from the hotel to the gig venue!

If many people are coming, we should get to the same place and try to get a group discount ;)

Or I heard Al Jarvis' floor is the place of choice for drunk NOOLers...

hmmmm...a chance to lose another rucksack...how could I pass the opportunity up???

Just depends on if the new job will let me take off at whatever time of year these gigs finally happen...and how many pennies I've managed to save up...or if those credit cards are still any good!!!

Now I pray it's not April 30th, because I have a wedding on that date.

And I'm not sure I'd love to see them in a festival, unless they headlight it.

Is the stag night a week before?

At this point in time, it's about a 1 in 3 chance I'd make it over there in April.

I wonder how many people does it take to get a "group discount" at an hotel near the possible venue

That sort of thing doesn't happen over here. Book far enough in advance though and the price will be reasonable.

There are some places cheaper than others though.

A year ago I made a decision to take a trip across the pond if New Order doesn't come here and look forward to meeting other NOOLers.

Are you sure you wanna do this? :skeptic:

I will definitely make the trip over to the U.K. I have close family living in the UK so that certainly helps. I would think that we might be getting down to our last few chances to see New Order so I won't risk it this time...
