PSB remixing next new order single?

I can't see why people talk so much about PSB and Depeche Mode on these boards. I mean, PSB are a good pop band and Depeche Mode were alright until 1990, but this is getting annoying!

Well said! Some people talk about these two and the fcukin Cure more than NewOrder.
I don't understand this remix obsession at the best of times, but trying to predict who will do remixes is just farcical. We don't even know what the songs sound like in their original conception yet!
PSB = old school 80's I want the classic New Order sounds updated and made contemporary which PSB would struggle with. there are way better collaborators out there
Notwithstanding the last idiotic comment posted, I'd love for this to happen and it's bound to happen sometimes.
And for those who hate the PSBs, whether you like it or not, they share common history with New Order (Stephen Hague, Electronic, hit singles around the same time and using a similar musical formula, NewOrderStory, etc.).
Bernard Sumner himself stated that New Order and the Pet Shop Boys had come down the same road.

Yeah but what would you know? No problem with them being gay but campnes is not the best combination when allied to crapness. They haven't done owt worth a carrot for more than 10 years.

For some reason, I don't trust your objectivity in this. 
Haven't you listened to the Nightlife album? That's as good as anything any other band would come out with today, when it comes to that kind of music.
And even with the bad press it got, I think the Release album had pretty good tracks on it too.

Pet Shop Boys because they did Electronic with Bernard Sumner, as I would expect people talking about The Smiths and Morrissey too (and they do)...
Depeche Mode & The Cure on the other hand seems to be linked together in the North American fan point of view... nothing wrong about it, but it seems you have to love the 3 if you love one.
I started with Depeche Mode to end up with New Order and then The Cure, seems like a natural road to me...
As for the Pet Shop Boys, I don't feel their music is related, sure I love some songs, but not to the same level as the 3 others. For some reason, I have never been a fan of Neil Tennant's voice.
I'm not a big fan of Tennant's voice... but then again Barney's not so hot some of the time! 
I just think that the 2 groups have a lot in common... or at least some of the Pet Shop Boys tracks sound VERY New Order influenced.
Then again I think that Depeche Mode had been listening to New Order when they did 'Enjoy The Silence'...

derp.I voted 'not an option'. I don't know if it's an option or not but I don't think it would be a particularly good one. I've got nothing against Pet Shop Boys, but I just think that both bands are perceived 'eighties bands' by large sectors of the record buying public and a lot of people may think of it as a kind of 'eighties' project. We all know that's not true of New Order, but i'd rather they steered away from working with the PSB's for this reason.
Just my opinion though
The Pet Shop Boys have released their first album at the end of 1985 (Please), then followed by another one in 1987 (Actually) and a third one in 1989 (Introspective).
Their fourth one (Behaviour) was released in 1991, then Very was released in 1993, Bilingual in 1995 and Nightlife in 1999. Their latest album, Release, came out in 2002.
So, compilations and remix albums excluded, out of eight albums, only three of them came out in the 1980's.
Calling them an 80's band is thus not accurate nor fair to their sound and work.
Oh yeah, in comparison, New Order has released:
- Movement (1981)
- Power, Corruption and Lies (1983)
- Low Life (1985)
- Brotherhood (1986)
- Substance (1987)
- Technique (1989)
- Republic (1993)
- Get Ready (2001)
6 albums out of 8 were released in the 80s...
So I guess New Order is an 80s band after all. :D
I'd ask, because I figured Barney and Neil go well together experiencing from Neil's contribution in Electronic.
