Are you Elliot Eastwick of Hard Times / Paper Records fame? If you are....TOP GEEZER!!!
Tis indeed. Closet New Order fanatic. Tattoo on leg. Tcket stubbs...I shant go on.
Fantastic! To anyone who isn't familiar, Mr. Eastwick is one of the UK's top house DJs and has been for about ten years now. I made the trip down to the legendary Hard Times night when it was in Leeds many moons ago and had a blast. I've got a tonne of Hard Times 12"s (the Louie Vega one with the sheep on the cover springs to mind!) in my collection as well as the Todd Terry double CD recorded live at the club. I'm sure I also have something by Salt City but I'm sure it's on Tribal Records (is this possible?)
I've also caught Mr E. playing out at Yip Yap in Edinburgh and the Subby in Glasgow but not for years now. Quality tunes always.
A final note.....I met a crazy Manc in Prague about 9 years ago called (believe it or not) Phil Collins who was a pal of yours, we'd got talkin about Hard Times and he said he used to work with you behind the bar in the Hacienda. Him and the burd he was with hung out with us for a week and he was truly one of the mos f***in mental people I've ever met! If you see him still say hi.
The 12" on Tribal is titled The Storm and was the precursor to Miles and Elliots Paper Recordings. I've got 15 Salt City/Releated 12"s and nearly all of the first 50 Paper 12"s. House musics saviours in the mid 90's. Miles is a gem too. Got to hang with him in Seattle. Spray painted Toko logo's illegially in the city that day. A Salt City (or would that be Reset, now) remix of New Order would be awesome. Love the work you guys did with The Beloved! One question though, if you come back, why did you rerelease the Beloved remix as an "original" Reset track 3 years later?
