Usually this is the time where everybody makes fun at me because of my french ear who ears a lot of funny stuff...

So let's go there...

Some people get up at the break of day Gotta go to work before it gets too late Sitting in a car and driving down the road It ain't the way it has to be

But that's what you do to earn your daily wage That's the kind of world that we live in today Isn't where you wanna be And isn't what you wanna be

*chorus*

Give me one more day (one more day) Give me another night (just another night) I need a second chance (second chance) This time I'll get it right (This time I'll get it right)

I'll say one last time (one last time) I've got to let you know (I've got to let you know) I've got to change my mind (I've got to change my mind) I'll never let you go (I'll never let you go)

You've got to look at life the way it oughta be Looking at the stars from underneath the tree There's a world inside and a world out there With that tv you just don't care

They've got violence, wars and killing too All shrunk down a two-foot tube But out there the world is a beautiful place With mountains, lakes and the human race This is where I wanna be And this is what I wanna do

Just give me one more chance (one more chance) Give me another night (just another night) With just one more day (one more day) You know I'll get it right (You know I'll get it right)

I'll say one last time (one last time) I've got to let you know (I've got to let you know) If I could change your mind (If I could change your mind) I'll never let you go (I'll never let you go)

second album in a row that we get somewhat patronising lyrics from barney.

yes we know you don't have to do another days work in your life if you dont want to - but others have got families, responsibilities etc. which force them into wage slavery. to try and empathise with them makes you look arrogant. how can you possibly know what it feels like to live a life with no meaning or control?

i'm just thankful Dawn Zee doesn't ruin this track. sounds childish in the same way Vietnam did. like it already!

Slow Jam2 on the lyrics as well as Turn My Way.

Easy to dis these lyrics but just remember there was a time when they had day jobs and the Joy Division's success was, although very special, just another group of lads schleping their instruments from gig to gig.

it brings a massive grin to my face every time i hear it,they'ye back alright, can't wait for the album

Whatever they are, these lyrics are pretty.. crafty. :thumb:

Though in all honesty, if you think these lyrics are poor, I think it's just Barney being a bit lighthearted and taking the piss.. you know what he thinks of lyrical content, with Every Little Counts!

Yep agreed. There was a time when apalling Barney lyrics were genius/shiver down the spine stuff "OH LOVE IS FOUND IN THE EAST AND THE WEST BUT WHEN LOVE IS AT HOME IT`S THE BEST" but

actually sorry listened to clip on tong a few times now and am erm.. happier

first time i read your post i though "dude, you can't analyse Bernard's lyrics, everyone knows that", but now i'm thinking, "that guy's right, these are some seriously patronizing, annoying as hell lyrics". Especially the first verse. Sumner is absolutely lost the ability to write a lyric that doesn't make me embarrased for him. The rest of the song after the first verse is manageable but those first 8 lines or so almost ruin a great song. Musically, this song is perfect, but it's so close to being ruined by Mr. Sumner. I wonder how many other songs on the album we'll have to forgive BS for his 3rd form lyrics. You'd think they'd do more instrumentals when the lyricist is an ignorant piece of shit. At least his voice "sounds" good. Now i wish i was French so i couldn't tell what he was saying.

it's "I've got to change YOUR mind" not "MY mind"

I'm happy I'm not a native speaker, those lyrics really suck...

Vietnam is a great song - considering the lyrics and the time it was written down in the 70's. Dunno why so many people hated it. I prefer Vietnam lyrics than Krafty!

i actually really like Vietnam. it took me a few listens but i've grown to love it. I really like Krafty too (clocked 24 listens in iTunes already!) but the first verse in particular is awful. Sumner needs some ghost writers for him. Krafty ranks with State of the Nation and Slow Jam as the worst songs lyrically he's ever written. Tune is catchy, drum programming is excellent, tinkling melody near the end makes me smile and Hooky's bass rules, as usual. Too bad about the lyrics though, seems the well has truly run dry for BS.

No coincidence his initials are BS when you listen to some of his lyrics!!

You may not be aware of that, but some French did learn English at school, although most of them live in muddy, creepy, under-developed farms. :smoking:

That said, I wish I couldn't tell what Barney's lyrics mean as well...

It's mandatory in Québec, we learn english starting at the 3rd grade...

Is it just me or is the vocal melody in Krafty very similar to "Slow Nerve Action" by the Flaming Lips....
