The difficult voting process has ended, the results have been stringently compiled over night and the final results are now in . There has been a shock, a minor twist to the tale...

Okay the all time most favourite New Order song is............

‘Temptation’ (a full-on 14 votes)

This powerful slice of Order magic has again proved its popularity with all members trouncing the opposition like a digger riding over a moles back. It was more a question of who didn’t vote for it than who did (only Snake’s name springs to mind with his decision to nominate 2 from the million selling album ‘Technicality’ but he must be allowed his own decisions as he squirms and slides throughout the underworld). Tempting Miss Daisy, the unique, heart pounding existential dance / rock number that works as well live as it does on the stereogram defeated all others in its quest to dominate the earth... I’m sure you’ll agree this is a worthy and true winner and future polls will show similar results i.e. Tempting Chickens surely must always shine through.

And the shock, the minor twist to the tale, the crack in the windscreen... well then... here are the ‘JOINT 2nd most popular song’ results:

2nd: Ceremony 2nd: The Perfectionist Kissing Unit 12” (equal 9 votes a piece)!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Who’d have thunk it!?... Personally, I had pegged Ceramics as the clear 2nd fave after quickly scrolling up and down the post room like a bastard. Your Silenced Fascia and Dreaming about Attacks struggled with 5 and 4 votes respectively, whilst all other monkeys festered with 1, 2 and 3 votes which embarrassed the very name of the nominee. For the record, ‘Throw me a Lifeline Please’ was weak... a meagre 3 votes only despite Patty’s desperate attempts to persuade other members to ‘give it up’ in the good name of what surely must be PC&L’s most beautiful track. Alas, this was not to be and may it rest in peace (again). Notably, I had to take a risk on one vote... The Keeper of his Own Key placed ‘Gloveless’ as choice, taking a risk I pegged that as ‘Loveless’ but if I was mistaken... well, let’s just say the results may have been slightly different. (why people can’t just put the proper name escapes me).

I love Temptation but it was so often nominated that I couldn't join the pack.

I really appreciate that The Perfect Kiss 12" (there's no other version, apart from the live recording made in the video) performed so well to be a ex-aequo 2nd !! Thanks to all who voted for it !

Like Patrick, I too buried my admiration for that classic on the sheer basis that it was too obvious a choice, but I'm glad it got the top nods

I did ultimately vote for it, Tabsy, after listening to it alongside other contenders and deciding it would be dishonest not to.

Temptation is a right and just winner as it embraces all that is NewOrder and simply gets better and better with age... Everytime i hear this song it has the ability to totally transfix me and doesnt let go until the final euphoric end sequence!

Perfect Kiss is another worthy winner. And claims the title of possibly the finest video ever created in the eyes of NewOrder purists throught the world...

PK is a worthy contender, but I think for me it has joined BLT in the group of things I've just listened to too many times.

Well, thank you for your worthy effort, Huntsy. Although, as you know, I'm saddened that Throw the Lone Bone Overboard didn't do better.

And of course it was more than a "sense" that the delay was out of character. It was a sure knowledge that it was.

Huntsy, have you considered doing a top ten poll of Order classics which we could vote on.

I know it would be a gargantuan task but it may prove to be the definitive article. You could introduce a points system with 10 points for each person's number one choice and so on. Then the likes of Throw Me A Bone could takes its rightful place in the New Order hierarchy.

Mickey we recently undertook an all time greatest album poll which was indeed gargantuan, and we also did a top Getting Things Ready poll. Perhaps you could instigate the new poll your suggesting as the old Huntsmule is wel and truly ruined by the days hiccups.

I wish you well in your task... but for now, I must get myself home for a great deal of light savoury snacks and perhaps one or three creamy dips.

I'm pleased that my own top two ended up equal second and of course the winner would have been third on my list had we been allowed to choose three. I think though that the result was entirely predictable. Next up should be a worst song poll, that would be very interesting.

Yeah, I suppose you're right Patrick. I was giving it some thought this morning on my way home and funnily enough thats two of the three I came up with, the other being the equally obvious Rock the Shithouse. I'm sure though that with a little more effort something from Republic could creep into the equasion, for me anyway. I'll sleep on it some and throw it into the ring on Monday I think. I still feel there may be a surprise in this one.

After posting those two choices, Muffy, I realized that in order to vote properly I would have to listen to Movement, which I can't actually ever remember doing, although I must have at some point in order to decide not to listen to it.

But I do think it's a worthwhile topic and I'm sure there will be surprises.
