To be honest, although I will love it whatever they play, I'm not that fussed about hearing Blue Monday, Bizarre Love Triangle, True Faith, etc. again... Classics obviously, but they do play them EVERY time and things like Perfect Kiss get left out because of it!

Personally I would like to see Touched and True Faith dropped as they don't cut it anymore! Plus I think Bernard struggles with vocals on these tracks.

Keep the Get Ready tracks...I think they still sound contemporary!

LOL @ "solo's" No way man, that's for jazzers, everyone stand up now and clap the sax player. the great bearded bassbeast needs no such poncery to get a cheer, usually the first 2 notes of ceremony are enough. Face it, we can't pick a set, THEY can't pick a set, so they'll fall back on lowest common denominator tunes again.....the ones most people will like....so steel yourself for the shock of TF and BM.

Please also remember that with a lot of the older electronic pieces, the files are gone, or at least the machines that the files were for are gone ( or did I miss the Emulator and Voyetra's on 511). While temptaion or YSF could be programmed by a chimp, some of the other songs are never gonna happen.....first cos they would essentially be cover versions, since they'll have to work it all out from tape, and secondly, a lot of what makes an electronic tune what it is, is the noise of the specific machine that made it. imagine hearing Blue Monday played on a tr909 with a yamaha slap bass sound playing the bassline and the choir of a Korg M1.....F*in horrible.

On that note....I'd like to hear EGG, cos you don't even need to program it.......ooops I forgot NO use stupid automatic-no-better-than-a-tape-deck midi playback now, so none of that interesting Drum machine triggered bass....just flappy crappy midi timing.....sigh...every time technology moves on, we so easily forget about so many things the last generation could do ( like stay in time)...I'd bloody kill for A. a machine that can actually respond to a pulse and B. a machine that plays the note AT THE SAME TIME as the others....as opposed to some random number of bytes and clock cycles later.

Thinking along the lines of the Stones Stadium/Club tour of a few years back where they played the tradititonal stadium anthems, and then rehearsed long dusty, rarely played tunes to play in clubs (with some of the hits), I'd love New Order to follow their example. If a band is big enough, i can't imagine a more enjoyable way to tour, if you can learn the songs, anyway.

My Fifteen Songs (I think it's more likely they'd do about 3-4 album songs and an additional 7-9 non-album songs, as that seems their m.o. lately):

I think only one Joy division song as that was the theme last tour. I would like see Here to stay but i really dont think they would play it.

Think Jim's hit it on the head. I think these gigs are gonna be like the Technique shows. LOTS of tracks from the new album. They're defo gonna play more than Get Ready. I reckon you could see a fairly even split of Sirens and old stuff. Say, 7 or 8 off the new album, and then, more than likely, just the 'obvious' singles. I reckon the JD stuff, bar LWTUA25, will be missing.

This has to be a set-up, right?

Good point about JD (or rather 24HPP) being the theme for the last dates and thus given a greater priority in the set, but I don't quite buy the idea that they are going to dominate the set with tracks from the new album. Unless they have specifically set out to prepare them all for live performance (and I sincerely hope that is the case), I suspect that it'll be the same as 2001/02, Greatest Hits plus a few from the new release. Maybe the same amount of JD given the 25th anniversary, maybe not. Pretty safe bet that we'll see Krafty and Working Overtime, Hey Now What You Doing and Waiting For The Sirens Call though, and probably Who's Joe.

I saw some previous posts with nothing but '80-85 songs and I thought that's either blatantly taking the piss or really worrying Who in their right mind would want to hear Movement songs live in 2005 rather than hearing the band try out their latest fresh WFTSC stuff? It's like wanting the entire Rocking Carol flexi disc at the forefront of the setlist cos you had a really nice time at the Hacienda Christmas night. Movement was a shite JD-lite record, and while it was an understandably shite JD-lite record, I think Barney not even remembering writing the songs and in fact "doesn't even own a copy" ensures no inclusion of it whatsoever in the setlist (Bar perhaps the saving grace Dreams Never End, but I doubt it)

Anyway I hope they do something interesting with the setlist this time around. 2001's gigs were dominated by horribly samey guitar numbers like Slow Jam, Close Range, and even Transmission (Live JD songs will never ever have the power of the records, nor without Ian on "whoop-less" vocals) I'd predominantly like to see alot of new stuff otherwise New Order really will become the new wave Rolling Stones. I thought an electro medley of new track I Told You So and EGG might sound dead interesting and prove the band are still as relevant as they were in '82. I do love the old stuff as much as the next fan with Low-life still cutting deep and there are definitely a couple of "elderly" numbers that would have a damn-near holy effect on me if they were played (true to the original arrangements of course) at the forthcoming gigs.

sure EGG's unlikely (I wouldn't bet on hearing anything they haven't played from '98 forward except the new tracks), but it's no more unlikely IMO than Isolation, Transmission, Digital, Guilty Partner, Run or In a Lonely Place, so I put it in b/c I think there's likely to be one or two surprises. Not night after night changes, mind you, but just some songs that you wouldn't necessarily be able to guess at before the tour started. And I want to hear EGG so I put it in, and I don't think it's as much of a stretch (it's still very relevant musically) as say some obscure b-side or album track. Personally, I'd rather hear Lonesome Tonight or The Village, but I'm not going to propose personal favorites for an ideal setlist, because I'd rather go to a concert that enraptures the audience from start to finish instead of one that includes moments that induce a mad rush to the beer line or bathroom.
