In this thread, you have the opportunity to suggest New Order 20 songs they should be playing on The Sirens' Tour, considering 5 of them would be from Waiting For The Siren's Call.

My suggestions:

From Get Ready :

  • Crystal
  • Turn My Way
  • Primitive Notion

From Republic :

  • Regret
  • World

From Technique :

  • Love Less
  • Round & Round
  • Guilty Partner
  • Vanishing Point

From Brotherhood :

  • As It Is When It Was
  • Bizarre Love Triangle

From Low Life:

  • The Perfect Kiss

From the singles:

  • Thieves Like Us
  • Blue Monday

From Joy Division:

  • Atmosphere

Conclusion: a 20 songs set is MUCH TOO SHORT with the back catalogue New Order has. The sad thing is they'll probably won't do more than 16... :(

By the way, if I could add 5 more, they would be:

From Republic :

  • Special

From Substance / the singles :

  • Procession

From Joy Division :

  • New Dawn Fades
  • Isolation
  • one of Decades / 24 Hours / The Eternal

I can't believe I left off True Faith, Touched By The Hand of God and Temptation.

Plus, I've been willing to hear Leave Me Alone live for a long time... and how come I've only come up with one song from Low Life when it's my favorite album ?!

THIS IS AN IMPOSSIBLE TASK !!!!

So you're saying 5 from the new album, and 15 other tracks?

The following is not in order and in no way grounded in reality:

[5 Waiting for the Siren's Call Tracks] Here to Stay Primitive Notion Close Range Regret Mr. Disco Vanishing Point Dream Attack Bizarre Love Triangle The Perfect Kiss Sub-Culture Lonesome Tonight Age of Consent Your Silent Face 586/Temptation/Everything's Gone Green (counts as 1, Motherfuckers!) Ceremony

Songs rehearsed to play in place of above songs for variety during their massive world tour:

Crystal Run Wild [acoustic: Barney on melodica, Phil on ukelele, Stephen on bongos, Hooky pounding his syndrum thingy] Round & Round All the Way Touched by the Hand of God True Faith 1963 Paradise Weirdo All Day Long This Time of Night Sunrise Face Up The Village Ultraviolence Leave Me Alone Blue Monday Hurt Dreams Never End Isolation Love Will Tear Us Apart

Get to work boys. Practice makes perfect!

Anything from the new album, plus:

Temptation Age Of Consent Dreams Never End Blue Monday (can't avoid it really...) Ceremony Atmosphere Love Will Tear Us Apart Transmission Crystal Regret Turn My Way

Denial Hurt Chosen Time Age of Consent Temptation EGG In a Lonely Place Ceremony The Village We all Stand Senses ICB

In no particular order:

Ceremony Temptation Everything's Gone Green Age Of Consent Your Silent Face Thieves Like Us Lonesome Tonight The Perfect Kiss Sunrise Weirdo As It Is When It Was Round And Round Vanishing Point Regret Crystal Transmission Isolation

To be honest, although I will love it whatever they play, I'm not that fussed about hearing Blue Monday, Bizarre Love Triangle, True Faith, etc. again... Classics obviously, but they do play them EVERY time and things like Perfect Kiss get left out because of it!

Personally I would like to see Touched and True Faith dropped as they don't cut it anymore! Plus I think Bernard struggles with vocals on these tracks.

Keep the Get Ready tracks...I think they still sound contemporary!

Bring on March!

Now what's a NO concert without BLT  Although they can leave True Faith out if it's perfecto mix, just play the god damn original, so annoying, sure maybe there is programming involved but surely they can get up off there arses and get it together.

LOL @ "solo's" No way man, that's for jazzers, everyone stand up now and clap the sax player. the great bearded bassbeast needs no such poncery to get a cheer, usually the first 2 notes of ceremony are enough. Face it, we can't pick a set, THEY can't pick a set, so they'll fall back on lowest common denominator tunes again.....the ones most people will like....so steel yourself for the shock of TF and BM.

Please also remember that with a lot of the older electronic pieces, the files are gone, or at least the machines that the files were for are gone ( or did I miss the Emulator and Voyetra's on 511). While temptaion or YSF could be programmed by a chimp, some of the other songs are never gonna happen.....first cos they would essentially be cover versions, since they'll have to work it all out from tape, and secondly, a lot of what makes an electronic tune what it is, is the noise of the specific machine that made it. imagine hearing Blue Monday played on a tr909 with a yamaha slap bass sound playing the bassline and the choir of a Korg M1.....F*in horrible.

On that note....I'd like to hear EGG, cos you don't even need to program it.......ooops I forgot NO use stupid automatic-no-better-than-a-tape-deck midi playback now, so none of that interesting Drum machine triggered bass....just flappy crappy midi timing.....sigh...every time technology moves on, we so easily forget about so many things the last generation could do ( like stay in time)...I'd bloody kill for A. a machine that can actually respond to a pulse and B. a machine that plays the note AT THE SAME TIME as the others....as opposed to some random number of bytes and clock cycles later.

Thinking along the lines of the Stones Stadium/Club tour of a few years back where they played the tradititonal stadium anthems, and then rehearsed long dusty, rarely played tunes to play in clubs (with some of the hits), I'd love New Order to follow their example. If a band is big enough, i can't imagine a more enjoyable way to tour, if you can learn the songs, anyway.

My Fifteen Songs (I think it's more likely they'd do about 3-4 album songs and an additional 7-9 non-album songs, as that seems their m.o. lately):

1981: Ceremony

1982: Temptation 5 8 6

1983: Age of Consent Leave Me Alone

1984: Thieves Like Us

1985: Face Up Sunrise

1986: All Day Long

1987: 1963

1989: All The Way Mr. Disco Don't Do it (always loved that and Best and Marsh)

1993: Special (lets try again with the best tune off Republic)

2001: At Close Range

Going with 17 songs, here is what i think....

from "WFTSC" -

4 songs, maybe 5 including the title track, which the band seems to love, at least Barney does so I'm sure that means they'll play it....

from "Get Ready" -

Primitive Notion Crystal

From "Republic" -

Regret

From "Technique" -

Vanishing Point (because it would be awesome at night in the Desert) Fine Time All the Way (guitars, guitars, guitars - could be great with Phil)

From "Brotherhood" -

Every Little Counts (why not?) BLT (play the extended version)

From "Low-Life" -

This Time of Night Face Up (needs to be resurrected)

From "PC&L" -

Leave Me Alone Age of Consent

the rest -

Shadowplay Thieves Like Us Dreams Never End or Love Will Tear Us Apart

Just my thoughts....:thumb:

i'm sure it'll be a pretty similar setlist to the last tour with new songs replacing the get ready tracks, but if i were to write it, it'd be something like this:

  1. the perfect kiss

(let the older fans know you still care by resurrecting a classic while at the same time not losing the casual fan because most know it.)

  1. krafty
  2. new song

(crowd still buzzing from the opener so you get away with some new ones that noone's really there to see)

  1. regret

(rev the party back up)

  1. bizzarre love triangle

(mosh pit begins)

  1. a really beat-heavy take on everything's gone green

(craziness at this point)

  1. new song
  2. new song

(everyone glad for a breather but building in anticipation for something they know)

  1. ceremony

(ok here we go again)

  1. your silent face

(everybody hug)

  1. true faith

(ladies and gents, we have an all out dance party)

  1. blue monday

(beers are flying, bodies slamming, etc.)

1st encore:

  1. decades

(older fans weeping, newer fans still excited as they were obviously sticking around after the main set's onslaught)

  1. new song (the second single that's current at the time)

(crowd putty in their hands at this point)

15)fine time

(everybody's happy, dancing and remembering the summer of '89 when new order was the biggest band in world, but still yelling for more)

2nd encore:

  1. temptation

(you guessed it, you wanted it, and here it is. good night)

:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

They don't know what to play And they don't care anyway!

Everythings Gone Green would be great, but unlikely to happen. I dont buy this "it takes too long to program the songs" shite, they could sample the original synth sections and add live guitars and drums.
