Anyone read Chris Ort's 'Unknown Pleasures'? He reports Barney & Hooky were not pleased with the production of the album. They wanted less of Hannett's heroin induced echo effect and wanted more of the pure Gibson SG/Rickenacker sound. Cant they get the tapes back and produce Unknown Pleasures how they wanted it? Having saying that I've just started listening to Movement again, no one on earth could have done what Hannett did with 'The Him', fuckin awesome

In my opinion a work of beauty from 1979 should not be tampered with 26 years later.

not tampered with, just an alternative perspectives on beautiful ingredients. Unknown Pleasures could be several, equally gorgeous dinners served by different cooks. Christ I'm stoned!

the unknown pleasures multitrack fell apart, there's no going back.

i think another problem is that while Unknown Pleasures has some great basic indie rock songs, the guys at this point were not exactly a tight, accomplished band.... their ideas were beyond their abilities as a rock band

in any event, its a shame that New Dawn Fades and some of the songs that didnt make it onto Unknown Pleasures never got better recordings
