For the Pessimists

So, I listened to the lp 3 times last weekend. Then was too busy to hear anything for nearly a week.

Then I just got back to hearing it. And yes it is brilliant.

An album has not been a grower like this since god knows when.

Even the tracks like I Told You So that I was a bit down on last week are starting to get to me.

I remember hearing Technique for the first time when it was released and hating it, especially Fine Time, but over a week becoming a fanatic. Republic was the same. Took a bit.

Well, this one is likewise.

The album is awesome. There's a lot of posts about what should be the next single, and I have favorites but any song will do. This is one of those rare albums that are all hit songs. Like you said, brilliant.

This is the only "problem" about the album. There are so many good songs in it that is a problem to choose a next single...

Who actually gives a fook about singles anyway? What does it matter if there are ten singles or no singles on the record?

More obscure promos for RMick to collect, the occasional gem of a remix (rare I know reunited iad was one example) and the chance of getting more live material or bsides bunged on the maxi single/dvds

As a New Order fan I have to give a fook since many of their best tracks were release primarily as singles only and did not appear on their albums in their original release: -Ceremony -In A Lonely Place -Procession -Everything's Gone Green -Cries and Whispers -Mesh -Temptation -Hurt -Blue Monday -Confusion -Thieves Like Us -Lonesome Tonight -Murder -Shellshock -State of the Nation -True Faith -1963 -Don't Do It -Best & Marsh -MTO -World in Motion -Vicious Circle -Let's Go (Nothing For Me) -Sabotage -Player In The League -Behind Closed Doors -Such A Good Thing -Here to Stay

And I do enjoy many good remixes, some become almost better than the original version IMHO: -Bizarre Love Triangle (Shep Pettibone Mix) -Regret (New Order Mix) -World (Perfecto Mix) -1963 (95 Arthur Baker Remix) -Here to Stay (Felix Da Housecat Mix)

And some singles had superb instrumental versions, like Here To Stay, Bizarre Love Triangle, Blue Monday.

Hell yes, its all about those pesky singles and collecting the rare (for better or worse) stuff. I thought that was what being a NO fan was all about?? Being driven insane like some Indiana-Jones-on-smack collector out trying to find every single in every nook and cranny?? I ordered my copy of Krafty from a local store. Anyone know when the regular release date is for the U.S.?
