After the thorough drubbing that song got in these forums, I was a little shy bringing that topic up again, but it's better than 'Kranky' and other three songs I eagerly awaited on Radio 1. It's not even a question of nostalgia.

"The Real Thing" has that delicately submerged Hooky bassline which then throws the tarp off and heads straight to heaven. At least Ms. Stefani knows how New Order sound at their best. Just think of a *New Order* remix (w/ Alan Meyerson) and instrumental on the flip, clocking in around seven minutes. Mind you, "Love Potion #9" played with that 'lineup' would be ten-block window rattler.

Mind you I've not heard the whole of WFTSC, so some of the other songs people have mentioned. Anyway, if anyone's heard of that getting a single release (anywhere), I'd be grateful for any info. Thanks

it's not going to be released. in fact, it wasn't even mentioned in some reviews of the album. i really wanted to like The Real Thing but it just fell flat. i'm not a gwen hater across the board but i was disappointed with TRT. pick up her 12" of What You Waiting For with the awesome JLC remix and Dub + the Acapella! Now that is sweetness.

BLT, Thanks the for info. I'll check out the 12". For some reason that reminded of one of those "it'll keep me going until a good NO record comes out", "The Sun is Rising" by Technique, on Creation of all labels. At least it had no irony, no shame, just a post-'Technique' pop track that did the job.
