Hi! This is my first post. I discovered New Order after falling in love with Monaco when their second album came out. I gather Monaco have split up but is there any chance of a third album, especially as Krafty is very similair to Monaco. Are there any live recordings of Monaco out there as Id love to hear what they sounded like live.

Thanks in advance!

I have Manchester University. If you are on soulseek add my username: 'davemings' and then search my files. If you want it lossless I could put it on easytree?

I also have Monaco at Reading but from memory its not a great recording.

I ran their official web site for the second album promotional campaign. Unfortunately there is very little chance of a third album unless Barney and Hooky have some sort of spectacular bitch fight in the near future regarding New Order. Even then, a lukewarm "alternate" side project was presented by Hooky in the form of "Freebass" which despite "locating lead vocalist" hype has resulted in jack shit really. I think everyone knows it will be tough for Hooky minus Potts to recreate anything of Music for pleasure's calibre. Monaco guitarist David Potts is pursuing his own band "RAM" who supported New Order on one date during the 2001 tour. They have an E.P. "Songs On Page One", a CD single "For Your Love", and are currently working on their debut album. You can get your hands on some RAM releases via Opal Music:

http://www.opalmusic.com/ Then search for "RAM".

As for live gigs, I have three: Manchester University '97, "T" in the park '97 and Amsterdam Melkweg 2000. 1997 was really Monaco's golden period, both live, in the studio and in every other respect creating material to completely rival Electronic. Unfortunately it all stalled after that. Drop me a line at allymonaco@hotmail.com if you'd like a copy of some of these gigs.

Ally.

Don't forget Revenge, the Joy Division of Monaco! ;) Hooky and Pottsy's first side project was even better and recently we've had an expanded 2CD reissue of the first album and a live CD released, so don't miss them!

Btw regarding the above post, most of us don't think that Revenge is better than Monaco.
