They're not giving over half of this country the chance to see them live! So many European festivals, but of all the places to play in the U.S., it had to be in California? I'd imagine there are more JD/NO fans on the east coast in major cities such as New York, Philadelphia, Boston, and Washington D.C.
You don't honestly think they give a fuck about the smattering of New Order fans in the US? Maybe if you all bought 1000 records each they would consider it, but they ain't gonna make any money from just doing a couple of dates, and there is no way on this earth they will ever do a big tour again like 1989. Americans voted against them with their feet in 1989 and 1993, the horse has bolted now.
Sad but true. I'd love to see them play some dates in the States, give me and excuse to come over and eat too much!
I'd love to see them in Canada.. but I know it's not going to happen.
Be happy, they do Coachella at least!

In my mind's eye, they would need to be all 20-somethings, playing at some craphole in Jersey with Bernard attacking his mic stand and forgetting to blink.

If it's really THAT important to you, you will figure out a way to do it...I was by no means a man of wealth for Area: One or Finsbury, but I managed to wing it to California and London for gigs...
If you really want to see new order, then get to California...if you aren't going to do that, then quit asking questions like....when will new order play (INSERT CITY HERE)...

I don't see how Erasure or Pet Shop Boys would be more popular in the states. Both of those groups have or will perform several NYC shows recently. Or is it that the gay synthpop community outnumbers ALL new order fans regardless of sexual preference?
You're forgetting one thing. Bernard doesn't want to play live. Tends to have a rather hampering effect on them booking gigs anywhere!

Jeff, someone might really want to find a cure for cancer, but that doesn't mean it's going to happen. Some people just can't afford to go all the way to California or wherever, because of finances or whatever else.
And I don't there's anything wrong with being pissed that your favorite band isn't playing anywhere near your location. Especially a big band like New Order.
New Order do not want to tour the US. OK. That's their decision. But you wouldn't be a very good fan if you didn't want to see your favorite band live, and weren't pissed that you're not going to be able to see your favorite band live.
RELAX!!! Festival shows don't even pick up steam around here ( east coast, and lower east coast at that ) till mid summer. The new album doesn't come out over here till a month after the overseas version, so maybe in about a month or so we might hear of a few dates. Keeping my fingers crossed anyway. And if it is as the rumors are saying, that there may be another new album in just over a year it may be a good time for the band to make a few rounds. I don't expect U2 style globe trotting, but hopefully a few shows.
I'm one of the folks who have never seen them live, and would really love the chance....SO HOW ABOUT GUYS...ATLANTA IN '05! Please?

There's the HFS festival in DC, where the Cure and Offspring headlined last year, y100 in Philly, and probably another one affiliated with a radio station in NYC.
Other than Coachella, I don't think there's another festival that would actually interest New Order.
I just think that one shouldnt have to pay more for transportation to the concert than going to the concert itself. if my $240 for an airline ticket went to new order, sure i'd go
