Right, this is an idea which me and a mate came up with at uni today. It may be the biggest load of nonsense ever and utterly unfeasable but what the hell...

Does anyone else think it could be feasable to have some kind of JD/NO night to celebrate the launch of the new album? Its probably a bit short notice now to organise something for when the album is actually released. I was thinking maybe the star and garter in manchester but thats booked up for the foreseeable future. Ideally a friday or even better a saturday night.

I'm sure a place could be hired for a night for £250 tops considering the amount of people that could potentially be attracted. And to save money we could tell the owner of the place you give us the venue, we get a DJ, and you keep the takings?

I'm probably being naive and unrealistic but i might as well throw it out into the public domain.

What about Mr. Ferguson's place? Doesn't he own a pub or bar or some such place?

You're being naive, posters from here hardly topped 30-40 when New Order actually did gigs at Manc and Finsbury in 2001. And then were from all areas of the UK. It was friends of posters who made up the numbers. Even 4 years on you'd be lucky to increase that number. The majority of people who follow NO ain't the people who post here .. at least, not regulary.

Indeed, Mr F has a lovely gaff but we had - what? - 10 NOOLers to see Hooky recently so a tad naive to assume we would bother for an album 'launch'. Let's just see how many can be arsed to do Barca and put their money where their mouth is. And, from England, it ain't actually a lot of money when all is said and done. A launch in Glasgee would cost me more, and mean less to me.

A little ironic if you can't make a launch party viable in Mancland when I'm hosting one here in Perth. You may scoff at the likely numbers but the trick is to hold it in conjunction with the most popular local indie night and get club and record company backing. Warner likes nothing more than free promotion for the band and they'll front copies of the album, single and promo materials for us.

Well having NO job at the moment and the place where i do WORK on and off maybe going under MONEY (or lack of it) is a problem for me.Just paying nearly TWO GRAND off a CREDIT CARD and still 1000's in debt aswell as trying to pay a MORTGAGE.But i aim to get to some of the GIGS/FESTIVALS though.Must admit though the SPANISH one is ONE i would love to do most.But at this moment in time i would have to say no.LIAM we may as well just make the SECRET/WARM UP gig the LAUNCH.Like AL says 30-40 tops from around here.I always seem to get a RESULT somewhere though.Just renewing my PASSPORT aswell cos i always LIVE IN HOPE.God forbid i may have to get a FULL TIME job.Nah fcuk that!

Nice idea, but as Al says the numbers just aren't there to make this viable. We'd play a set if there were something going on, but short of all getting together the night before a London show I can't see anything happening. This isn't being regionalist, just realistic as to how such things have gone over the last four years. ATR's "Homage" night just touched 100 the night after Old Trafford, and that was with Liv singing to everyone, so what hope is there for a mere album launch pissup?
