Well, that's not *that* much New Order content in this week's NME (about 4 piccies and a quick Q&A session with Barney, where he seems to have a permanent fixation on mentioning about Hooky's penis in every Q&A out there)!

However, next week's NME will have a fairly extensive feature on New Order (looks like it's going to be a retrospective):

"Basically, if it wasn't for New Order then most of tonight's award winnders wouldn't know where to start. The Killers? They'd still be figuring out how to switch on their synths! Franz? New Order put the art into pop when they were still in nappies (well, maybe when they were still in their mid 20's - arf!). 'Crystal' is first, then Peter Hook plants a kiss on singer Bernard Sumner's cheek before new single 'Krafty'. Then they go and play 'Love Will Tear Us Apart' and, frankly, we don't know what happens next because everyone's down the front dancing. We think they played 'Blue Monday', we think they segued it with Kylie's 'Can't Get You Out Of My Head' and we think Hooky trashed the monitors. It was a fucking triumph and a storming finale."

Hey people, do you remember 10 years ago? Only The Rest Of New Order was out (which was good but still just a remix compilation), we didn't even know about Raise The Pressure and when it came out it was an excellent album but got bad reviews and poor sales. No word from Hooky and The Other Two. Shitty retro Britpop all over the place and the 80s banned as extremely unfashionable. It all seemed to go downhill, but now it's 2005, and meanwhile New Order have headlined a triumphant Reading Festival blowing offstage the scheduled headliners (not really, but you get the picture), made two excellent albums, have artists in queue for collaborations, and won Godlike Genius at the NME Awards! I Told You So is a brave choice, of course they couldn't have chosen a single, but maybe stuff like Hey Now, Morning, or Dracula would have been safer for those familiar with the band... still, Told You So is challenging because it shows they can do something different, though maybe it's too different from their known sound to be used as a sample... anyway it has a contemporary feel so it's OK for NME readers, the most of them born after Movement!
