Best producer

Okay, who do you think has been NO's best producer over the years? For me, it seems the band themselves have done the best job with their songs. Stephen Hague comes out at the bottom of the pile.

Beavis...i love you!! Mr Baker on top of this world!!! Now watch... there's posts to be expected from our german friend Marco who is a wellknown Arthur Baker fan, as are all germans.

hhhhhmmmmmmm...not an easy question, because it also depends on the technical development, new software tools and stuff...but i think Arthur Baker for instance did a great job on "Behind Closed Doors". But also Steve Osbourne did very well on "Get Ready"...i don't like what Stephen Hague did on "Republic" so i guess he's at the end of my list...but also there's this Michael Johnson who did all the recording on "Technique", "One True Passion" and so on...hard to say...there are always a lot of people involved in the making of an album...

Steve Osbourne's work on GR is absolutely GREAT. He is my fave New order's producer even though I like A. Baker's work very much too. Wasn't Michael Johnson a member of the Paris Angels or was he only producing them? Does someone around here know more about this group? I only know the song called "Perfume" which is kind of good and soemtimes ounds a bit like N.O.

...i don't know who Michael Johnson really is...but he was very often around when New Order produced some material in the late Eighties...

Definitely Arthur Baker.

Now, is there any question who the best producer is? I think they should do it themselves on the next album (if there is one).

The band themselves (Low-life and PCL are my favourite albums). Steve Osborne would be second, and Stephen Hague last.

they probably couldn't even pay Osborne to listen to it.

I still sya Hannett was the best. Too bad he lost it after Ian, only Baker comes close to making up for that loss.

Best New Order producer - other than the band themselves..... I nominate Arthur Baker - he doesn't destroy the songs like Stephen hague does (making them too polished for example) Neither does he annihilate the original song entirely (like John Robie). Not too keen on Steve Osbornes job on Get Ready either - so, as 1963 (95 mix), TBHOG, and Confusion (original) were good singles anyway, Arthur Baker it is.
