Is anyone going to Other Smiths/Re:Order at the Academy 2 in May? If so fancy a pint? I've just booked tickets for The Men They Couldn't Hang anniversary tour on the same night in Academy 3 which is also in the students union.

Any chance of Re:Order making sure they are off stage before tmtch go on, two gigs in one night!?

Yep, going to re: order and other smiths. Always up for alcohol related activities.

Might be a goer, if Will plays the same set as he's promised for Londinium two weeks earlier, which I'm gonna miss as I'm US-bound.

we haven't been given a list of stagetimes as yet. when we have one I'll post it up on our front page and I'm sure it will be filtered here too. suffice to say I believe we are not headlining and the set will 'run' at around an hour. looking forward to some familiar faces and a few unfamiliar ones with familiar handles

on a separate note and wishing to avoid posting a new off topic thread - a sad lament: one of the things that led to me finding solace in the shape of fake bernard was that as a less shapely youth, learning guitar and 'singing', new order and JDs material was how I learned to play etc. then comparisons were inevitable when the band left and I got sequencers in to replace them. cue 16 years later and I'm in a tribute band to them. I've often been asked who else I felt I could have been drawn to tribute. and by this extension of events there's only one other person. the old eccentric edwyn collins. the only sense in being a tribute to somebody is if you are either uncannily physically alike or if you've been so influenced and guided by them through your enthusiasm that it becomes almost natural to re: present the material. before the above band left in 1987 there was only one group we were ever compared to musically and I was even mistaken for edwyn by one of the writers at sounds. I say this believing mimicry to be the sincerest form of flattery. from what I hear, even if he recovers from the surgery it seems that a part of edwyn collins is forever lost to us. I can only wish him and grace the best for the future. there will always be a place in my heart...
