i wanted to know more about this song... it does kind of sound like a blue print for blue monday, thats if this song was created first before monday and was the fuel to make blue monday... if so.. then wouldnt blue monday be the the final version of "586" and therefore there would be no reason to have 586 on pcl.. well personally i love that song better then blue monday :)

but what does 586 actualy stand for?

i plan to tattoo it on my wrist, but i want to know what it means before i go ahead with the deed.

Something to do with the bars or key changes are 5 ,8 and 6.The more technical knowledgable NOOLERS could explain it more than me!!.It`s like a sister song to BM.Which was written first?

586 came first, it was originally an ambient piece that Steve Morris wrote as BACKING MUSIC to be played at the opening of The Hacienda.

As for the title, the story goes that it comes from the structure of "Ecstasy", five bars followed by eight bars followed by six bars...

It could be all the things written above,or just simply track four on PCL...:skeptic:

there is a very good pre- Power, Corruption and Lies version of "586" on the 1982 Peel Session, with the same basic lyrics but a much darker mood. it certainly predates "Blue Monday". the only simularity between "Blue Monday" and "586" is that the two tracks use similar equipment and are uptempo IMO. New Order is allowed to write more than one uptempo beat track at the time, are they not? Blue Monday was not even on Power, Corruption and Lies originally.

then there is the 22+ minute instramental "586" , which sounds like parts and ideas from lots of New Order's early 80s electronic songs... certainly ideas from that were seeds in which Blue Monday and the later 586 came from.

It was Steve's prediction of how many septics would ask this question between 2001 and 2005!!

It was AMD response to the Pentium II

No, there response to the Pentium II was the buy NexGen and rebrande the 6NX86 as the K6.

The 80586 was the product number for the Pentium 1, and 586 was used by IBM on rebranded Cyrix chips.

Actually it was called Pentium because you can't put a patent on a number...

This way, Intel made sure they would be the only ones to use the name of their cpus.
