(quality wise) does anyone have a copy of this masterpiece lying around in their hardrives or in a burned cd that i can possibly have borrow? or share?? i really want to make my new order b sides and singles mix... I have the full orginal 12" Temptation (1981-1982 EP) mp3 format. I'd upload it and post the link right here but i'm not sure i'm allowed to do that.

That's the same 12" version on that's on Retro, no?

I think the question's more about the 7" - which I can possibly help with, I'll email if I can find it CTB :bear:

Yup, it's on Retro and the '1981-82' Canadian CD.

Thank fook I've still got my original 7" version on villy - just record it onto CDR!!

Isnt it so that the mighty 7" version is not available on CD at all???

That and the original blue sleeve 2 inch is heaven - whilst the later version sounds plain light and boring??  What happened to the amazing echo on Barney voice and ripping guitar work - certainly a much better production by Hannet.

It wasn't a Hanett production - first time New Order had produced themselves.

True - Hannett was not involved in any version of Temptation. I still really like the 1998 version of this song, though...concise CTB :bear:

Yeah, the 98 version would have made a great re-released single mix - could've become the chart hit that Tony Wilson would have liked to have seen with the 87 mix.

I think New Order should play the 98 version of Temptation at their gigs now. As much as I love the originals, it's been played at virtually every live show in its long form, and if they played it in this shorter structure, it'd leave more time for some other classic album tracks to be resurrected at their gigs!

Does anyone know where can I find the version of Temptation that was recorded in 82. I heard someone put snow down Bernard's back and you can hear him yelp during the intro. I really want to find that version.

I've been trying to track down a couple songs to complete my singles collection. The Confusion (edit) 7" and True Dub. I have the True Faith Promo (Pro-CD-2899), however this does not include True Dub for some reason. I don't believe these two ever made it on CD. Can anyone verify this for me?

Verified.

For all your releases-related questions, your first stop should be at the New Order Discography as found @ http://www.niagara.edu/neworder.

This has probably been asked before, but where exactly is the snowball yell, and on which version ? I've never been able to figure it out. Or is it an urban myth ?

Don't worry Dan, it isn't a commercially available CD - instead a pretty good compilation of what should have been on Retro! :D

I may be wrong, but I can hear some yelling on Temptation Original 12" 1981-1982 EP at about 48 seconds into the song. So I think that may be it.

Ah, the mighty seven-inch version. It's CRIMINAL that this hasn't had a proper CD release (particularly when the mix they did for Substance was just an abortion - same goes for "Confusion," for that matter). I thought I'd finally found it when I got the Something Wild soundtrack a few years back, but instead it's that silly edit of the 7-inch. :banghead:

I finally had my old vinyl copy burned late last year, and it still gives me shivers. One of the fundamental songs of my early adolescence. Gotta say, though - the 98 version comes in a pretty close third.

Its not that audiable, but its there. I guess that's why it was left in. I recommend play it loud. It's more of a subdued shriek.

Just wondering where I could find a copy of the NEW ORDER - Excerpts From Recycle CD ?? Mostly because I've love to have a CD copy of the green Cermony 12". Am I right in thinking it is the same as the 7" ?? :confused2:
