This months Rip & Burn magazine has a review of 'Waiting For The Sirens Call',giving it 4/5. It says the album doesn`t really move on from 'Get Ready',but is catchy and Barney sounds fresh. Also in the issue is a 'Madchester' special-a free CD (the sleeve is designed around the yellow/black stripes of the Hacienda),and a 20 page review of the 100 most important Manc records. Joy Division/NewOrder get a full two pages of coverage.
Pretty essential reading!
Very good issue - worth it for the Madchester article (and free CD that includes tracks by A Guy Called Gerald, Clint Boon, New FADS, A Certain Ratio, The Fall, Johnny Marr, The Charlatans, and some new Manc bands, including Sam Hammond who does a cover of the Happy Mondays' "Country Song".
There's a commentary of about 100 Manchester tracks, including a two-page selection of Joy Division and New Order tracks), as well as the review of WFTSC, a full-page advert for WFTSC, and it's also mentioned in their calender events with the website address "neworderonline.com" just below it! :)
