Ok people... now I'm officially freaked out. :faint:

I checked the stats for the website over the last few days, and here they are:

28 Feb 2005

9215 Visits 141324 Pages Views 1100468 Hits 10.28 GB Transferred

01 Mar 2005

8855 Visits 109343 Pages Viewed 863701 Hits 7.04 GB Transferred

With stats like these, we're going to be kicked any day now I fear...

Just to give you an idea, September 2004 MONTHLY stats:

25401 Unique Visits 51526 Visits 341960 Pages Views 2097770 Hits 36.82 GB Transfered

And those stats don't even include the media files... hosted on another website...

For March 1st, it's 500 Megs of download alone.

About time the viewing of the forums was only available to signed-in members maybe? Quite a few are a bit pissed off that a site they have paid to be able to see isn't available as often as it used to be!

Now, you really should care about some paid ads. I don't like them but under those circumstances I can see no other way to finance the forum. What do you think? BTW I don't think the Amazon-Ad is enough, and I really doubt it pays off that much. There should be some better way.

Why all gigs of data transferred?

Unless people are downloading songs and video then its only people viewing a forum surely that doesnt take that much space up?

And if your not registered you cant post so that surely cant be why the data transfer is so high :confused:

I'll second that. It might pain Dave Sultan, but this the de facto 'official' New Order site, and it can only benefit the band, their management and their record label that this place remains fit and healthy.

We all know people in the NO camp check out this site (ie - Steve Morris knowing who Rocket Mick was; certain people getting a second hand ticking off for "giving away too much" :laugh: ), so it seems only fair that they send some money over to Canada.

Or is that just me?

Didn't Peter Huskins visit this site a few weeks ago to find a few links to his own album? ... he wanted to hear it before they'd finished it, something about wanting to tweak his bass lines if it sounded nececelery?

Not sure it would solve the problem.

However, I believe that stopping search engines to index forum pages might help... since I removed the old forum system, I receive all the 404 errors and I see that most people get in the forums by a search engine search.

However, putting the whole forums under the membership, I'm not too keen on this idea.. I'd prefer to switch to a better hosting solution on a small term, until the end of the summer for instance..

I understand the frustration, I live with it daily!!

Calm down! Nothing this popular can disappear. Loads of people love this place and want it to stay the same for a while yet.

I’m sure if we found out what the bottom line was (how much we need to spend to enable the site stay to say the same) and how many people we need to divide that number by it would not be that big a number. We could all write a cheque and everyone could get back on with whatever it is that goes on on here.

The Amazon ads, by the way, are cool. A thumbnail of the record sleeves we love; how cool is that?

The Warner money may be on it's way, but a strong site would be able defend itself against them telling you what to do!

Right, lets talk about New Order again...

Actually, if they force me to get a better hosting package, I believe we'll have enough money leftover to pay for 1 full month or maybe 2 out of the current package.

The next package cots 4 times more unfortunatly...

So right now, it'll be donations until the rush passes out.. not much else I can do.

Now I just need to find a way to try to earn money from alternate sources, but then again... we'll see if ANYONE buy stuff from the Amazon ads here.. I hugely doubt it!

If everyone who'd posted here in the last 6 months had donated just $5 then the site would have no problems. This site gives more information/news and more enjoyment to fans all over the world than any magazine costing $5 or the equivalent.

Kudos to Nic & Seb (and anyone else who's helped them out) - long may this site remain, because it would cost Warner & London music a hell of alot more to provide the publicity that NOOL takes care of for them. Take a look at www.newordergetready.com...

And has anyone even seriously entertained a WFTSC website yet? Why not? Because NOOL is free and does the job better than any hired publicity company. :clap:

To further that (good) point - who wants to join some site that's run by a bloody record company? Rock has been fucked by the money men - the internet is something they haven't managed to get their claws into yet.

Try an ad from eBay... so Mr. Sultan can buy his stuff while reading the site and copying the news :evil4:
