Technique Low-life PC&L Brotherhood Get Ready Republic Movement

Only heard a few off WFTSC, but I doubt I'll rate it any higher than Brotherhood...

On WFTSC, the great moments actually outnumber the duff ones. It's nearly as coherent and listenable from end-to-end. It's for this precise reason that Republic, PC&L, and Get Ready suffer on my chart.

Republic is far from excellent, but the tragedy is that semi-precious rocks like World, Ruined in a Day, and Everyone Everywhere sounded like they should have belonged on the real Republic; in an alternate universe where Republic was the logically progression from Technique with cleaner and more introspective sounds. Get Ready is like a rushed quilt, too many thin spots and plain gaps in the whole. PC&L, similar to Republic, holds some of the most potent tumbler rounds in NO's assault rifle, but for me the ratio of experimentation to solid content is just too lobsided.

New Order's best albums have been gestalts on the ear and WFTSC holds true to that effect.(If you don't know what a gestalt effect is, that's okay, but you should probably read more)

Any album that contains the holy trilogy of Your Silent Face, Age Of Consent & Leave Me Alone has to be number 1.

Movement is a close second - too many people on here judge it retrospectively from a "Blue Monday and after' perpective but if you were there at the time the only problem with it wasn't that it was too much like JD but that that it wasn't enough like JD. It's actually a very logical follow-up to Closer and holds a very special place in my heart.

The new album has some truly great moments - the title track, Who's Joe? & Turn are all excellent.

Brotherhood is a hastily thrown together collection of half-finished songs and Low-Life suffers from that horrible mid-80's drum sound that ruins many an albums from around that time.

hard choices really, every album has its own feel. But this is my feel right now.

Why is everyone ranking Movement so low in the polls,It's a great album,much better than Get Ready,Republic.Maybe it's because everyone just hasn't listen to it in a while,I hope that's the reason
