i figured if taboo#7 could start a radiohead thread, what would it hurt for me to start a psb thread. after all barney worked with the psb's and steve & gillian gave thanks to them so why not. anyways who out there bought this dvd and what did you think?

Well, I haven't bought the DVD myself (not being a DVD player owner yet -- bear with me) but I could download the DiVD rip and saw a bit of it until it made my computer crash, and I downloaded the MP3s made from the sound output from an obscure FTP site (thanks to The Hitdog who, I believe, visits this site frequently and maybe reads this forum -- nice job you did).

The sound is great. No question. The Nightlife tour was fantastic. One of the best shows I've seen/attended. This is a VERY GOOD EXAMPLE of what I was telling on this forum months ago on how New Order should re-work their older songs to give them a new life.

I really think the Pet Shop Boys did a fantastic job on that regard.

Not a big Pet Shop Boys fan...:\ohwell:

If I get a DVD player this year (doubtful, but there IS a big box under the tree with my name on it....), I plan on getting the 3 16 DVD. Is that available in the US?

A little off-topic, but the main reason I got a DVD was to see 3 16 (sad), but the Orbital DVD (for those of us who like 'em) is fantastic also - probably the best use of the format I've ever seen. CTD

If a DVD is in my future, i already have my eye out for a live show the Who did sometime this year, as well as the Filth and The Fury and the Stanley Kubrick collection. Again, that's IF I get a dvd player

Taboo, sad to say the 3 16 dvd is not in the us of a, and, if i remember correctly, they are not going to do so at all. So the rest of the planet has it, except region 1 folks like you and me.

but this is the reason i'm thinking of getting a multi-region dvd player, one that will play any dvd on this planet. then 3 16 and pumped full of drugs dvd would be viewable to us americans

I bought it, but waiting until Christmas to watch it. I saw some on the big screen tv at the store and it looked great. It is a little busy on the eyes, there are three things going on at the same time, but i still liked it. It has about 22 songs on it plus the 3 videos from the night life cd and a bonus video! It even has special features. If you want, you could just watch the back screen from the concert. The only thing their missing was a commentary.

And it has a no region code on it, so anybody in the world could buy it and enjoy it.

And its in 5.1 sound to boot.

yeah, you are right about being "busy on your eyes". the computer graphics almost seem to get in the way at sometimes. i really have no complaints, although i wish the camera could've focused more on chris and his keyboard playing(cause he's been known to fake it). it would've been neat to see the backing musicians a bit more also. the only thing this dvd lacks is backstage footage. the "somewhere" dvd had some excellent backstage footage. too bad this one didn't.

Talikng of the PSBs I noticed they've got a new single (Home & Dry) in the UK on the 11th march, with an album 2 weeks later. Johnny Marrs playing guitar on 10 of the new songs.
