Almost strange that his voice sounds younger than ever on the album. Some of his peers like Ian Mcullochs singing these days arent a patch on their old stuff. And Dave Gahan whom i`ve never been a fan of anyway has seen better days vocally.

Don't know how many takes were required to get that sound. The version of Turn I have heard has a definate vocal splice halfway through. Might be best to reserve judgement until you hear how he sounds live!
Studio work can do miracles, isn't it? :D
You'll always have the right picture when you see them live. And I'm not sure, but the NME footage looked like Bernard seemed a little weaker vocally compared to the 511 DVD.
I might be out of it, I didn't listen to 511 for at least 1 year... it was an impression of mine.
We sure won't be able to judge with TOTP ![]()
it´s a matter of practice too. like every other activity (no matter how good you are) if you stop doing it for some time you won´t give 100% the first time you do it again. he´ll get better with practice and shows.
I do like his vox a lot better on the new one, than Get Ready. Can't really put a finger on it..it's almost as if Get Ready was more 'yelling' and Sirens' Call is more 'singing'.

I believe that Barney did his best singing on Technique and Republic. He was really good live in 93 as well. He had what I will call an understated superiority.
