Just watched this tv show for the first time. Saw the episode where they get A Flock of Seagulls back together. It's very addictive as you're just nosy to see how they've aged and what they're up to now. You start by laughing at them but by the end you're hoping they can pull off a reformation gig.

But I am so glad that New Order reformed already because I would hate to see them go through this. They would have been prime targets. Imagine how much swearing they would have to bleep over. Sneaking up to Steve in his tank, stalking Bernard on his yacht. God knows where they would have found Hooky.

Amazingly VH1 thought they could get The Smiths to reunite. What were they thinking of ? Do they not do their research or follows the news ?

Who would you like to see them reunite... A Certain Ratio ? Revenge ? Gaye Bykers on Acid ?!

The (English) Beat's been the only episode of the series I watched, rated all of their albums highly. Never cared much for groups like Haircut 100, et al.

They should try to get Feargal back again with the Undertones, Zach and the others of Rage Against The Machine to make up, and see if Jeff and Jay could give Uncle Tupelo another go.

I saw the Missing Persons episode and the Flock of Seagulls. It's pretty interesting to see how they've gone on to do non-rock n roll jobs like an insurance salesman and the show seems somewhat unscripted when they go about reuniting the members.

Bands i like to see are: B-52's, ABC, The Cult, Psychedelic Furs

52nd Street for a tour supporting New Order! What a waste of talent, I wish they could have had a second chance, their electro stuff on Factory is amazing, while they totally lost it on soft soul at Virgin...

Apparently they're trying The Smiths one again but I love Morrissey's quote that the only way The Smiths would reform was if they were each killed and the bodies dragged into the same studio :laugh: Funny chap! They'll obviously fail twice with The Smiths in the end and I am personally glad for two reasons 1) The Smiths were of their time and wouldn't seem right in 2005 all podgy and grey, and 2) Morrissey's solo stuff has always been really good for me, so I'm happy with his 2004 comeback and wealth of new material that seems to be his strongest in years. Marr on the other hand, hasn't produced anything decent since Electronic's last album and even duetting a Smiths track or two with Neil Finn is not enough to keep me interested in his musical output these days. At least Moz churns out quality new stuff like First Of The Gang To Die and Irish Blood, English Heart which has amazing rants/energy.

ACR are still on the go aren't they? I liked parts of their career but they never seemed to pull off consistently good albums or even periods. My attitude towards the three or four ACR LPs I have is "I like track 2, 5, and 12" the rest is bollocks and I hate samba! Won't Stop Loving You (Barney's mix of The Big E) was ACR being New Order anyway so they never really made that much of a dent beyond the indie-alt scene unfortunately. Flight was OK too but if late 70s Manchester was as lawsuit obsessed as 2005 Los Angeles, Joy Division would have sued them into oblivion! :laugh: As for a Revenge reunion we basically got it with Monaco, and the tunes were obviously much better that time around so 'nuff said there.

Great show, but ultimately many of the episodes are rather disappointing....Many of the bands during the second season never got back together or anything. I was really looking forward to seeing "The English Beat" play some songs, but it was never the real band together.

They failed miserably when they tried to get the Smiths together. Just the host shouting at Morrissey from a mile away and Moz ignoring him...

I also don't like it when they only get half the band together and use "fill ins" for guitarists, bassists, or drummers....

How about a bands reunited for "Electronic??" I would go for that....I'm sure Marr and Sumner would love to get back together to jam through some songs, especially the gem, "Get the message"...it would also bring a new audience to Electronic and they can discover how awesome they were....

Speaking of the English Beat. They played in town recently for a birthday party. Some guy hired them to play for his wife's party at The Embassy Suites in Seaside and then Dave Wakeling played an acoustic set at their house the next morning. Lean times?

*Yeah, what a great band, I'm discovering them right now and Lexicon Of Love is wonderful, all the tracks are killer funky pop, amazing they made it in 1982, way ahead of their times... they sounded like a mix of ACR and Duran Duran, and I mean it as a compliment... a poppier ACR... a funkier Duran... great, isn't it? I wonder how they'd have sounded if on Factory rather than associated to the mainstream TV pop of the likes of Spandau Ballet, they had enormous potential... Not sure about their later stuff, but will definitely check some...

They did try with ABC and two of them didn't show up for the concert at the end. Poor Martin Fry, he soldiered on anyway.

they've obviously done more research than you - you are aware that they have played together in the last couple of years in a private jam session aren't you?

& hell, if new order can get back together again after their split...

What ?! All four of the Smiths have jammed together ? I know Morrissey and Marr have met a few times. But I very much doubt Mozza has been in the same room as Joyce and Rourke given his continual bitter comments post court case a few years back.

I don't buy the NME like I used to but I would have thought I'd read by accident somewhere if all 4 had reunited. Well you learn something new every day. I would have thought there'd been more fuss made in music mags.

not sure it was all four - it was in one of the monthlies a few months back - (maybe word?) - but let's face it moz & marr were the smiths to all intents and purposes.

I think you're getting your wires mixed up here on all three points. Firstly from the look of the show, all they did was shout at Moz from a distance which obviously shows an utter lack of research. Secondly, they have not jammed in the past couple of years at all (Morrissey doesn't jam anyway), I don't know where you're getting that from. Marr has stated he met up with Morrissey during the Kill Uncle/first Electronic album period and they "drove around". There was little talk of music because as Marr is quoted as saying "we had lost our respective musical reference points". I think what you may be referring to is that Marr convened the band in private before the court case to try and work out the legal problems. Music didn't come into it and it didn't work anyway as the outcome of the case proved. I have heard stories Morrissey/Marr have communicated briefly but not in person over the past five years. Morrissey mainly communicates by fax and I think I remember Marr saying "I faxed him last year". But there's no way they're collaborating again in an artistic sense. I say that with confidence because there have been so many false alarms over the years.

The Morrissey-solo web site is hurrendous for "reform" rumours but anyone who has a semi-handle on what Morrissey is like as an individual knows that this is impossible. He hates Rourke and Joyce with a passion, and even fell out with Marr slightly because he "didn't stick up for Morrissey's character" as much as he could of during the court case. The Smiths are deader than Bernard Manning's standup routine in India, they really are. Plus with New Order's reformation it's a bit different, there was no bitter court case with Barney sueing Gillian or Hooky sueing Steve etc. That sort of legal scenario would rip a band apart instantly, whereas with the Factory/Hacienda debacle the band were all in the same boat, on the same side. The Queen Is Dead and so are The Smiths I'm afraid.

If you have anything that says The Smiths have jammed in private over the past few years I would love to hear/see it. But if it's an Internet rumour and especially if it's from the Morrissey-solo site, it's most likely bollocks. Sorry!

I remember watching a documentary on Moz; I think it was titled, "Life with Morrissey" or something to that effect...

He goes as far to say that he wished "very bad things" to happen to Rourke or Joyce...I cannot remember. He didn't say he wanted them to die, but he did state that he wanted something close to it...

The probability of seeing the original 4 members of the Smiths together again is as likely as seeing the 4 original members of the Beetles together.

I think Marr and Morrissey are still Amicable though...I think the likelihood of those two getting back together is possible.

Did you listen to "You are the Quarry", Moz's last album, practically every song is about his greedy ex-bandmates taking money from him and his depression over being sued and losing in court. He pretty much alienated himself everyone he knew...

I would pay thousands of dollars to see that band play live again...that would be an outing for the ages...
