Sooner then you think

is it just me, or is the last minute and a half or so of this song (starting around the 3:50 mark straight through til the end), among the best endings to any new order song they have ever recorded? it is such a fantastic catchy blend of guitars and synths, i think this is a very underrated song.

Could be. NO have many songs that once the singing is oveer the latter part of the song nears peerfection. I've never rated them. Among my faves are Run, Lonesome Tonight, YSF, TPK...

I will vote for that, Pope. Senses contains one of my favourite outros to any NO song. The synths have that stately, funereal feel so unique to early New Order – much like that sinister synth drome which rumbles discretely through In a lonely Place – very austere. The extreme end of Senses has a nice, if rather creepy, ending.

and yes, the outro in Sooner...is fantastic - if a little lighter in mood than the above examples.

'Guilty Partner' and 'Dream Attack' for me.

Yeah, I agree on 'Sooner...'. What was it that Barney said during Glastonbury '87, 'Big endings, small dicks?'. Hysterical. Rarely do I like wind down codas, regardless of band or genre, but the finish to '586' is pretty top too. That and the 'Danger' loop make it that much better a song than Blue Monday.

I agree. Sooner is one of New Order's finest and most underrated tracks, although I think Face Up is even better! But the production on Sooner is top-notch; the atmosphere and feel is second to none and is unique even amongst all of New Order's diverse work.

I agree. In fact, I think basically all of Movement is underrated.

Have to concur with David - Sooner than you Think is as someone else said, classic new order. Great blend of guitar and synths, definitive Hook bass lines leading the song along, Bernard in great voice, and that wonderful mix of melancholy and exuberance that, in my opinion, is the definitive element at the heart of New Order.

Face Up is a song I've always loved - great intro and the song is just brimming full of joy. I think I wore that song out on my vinyl. This is one song I'd love to hear them play live - only seen it on Pumped Full of Drugs.
