I had no choice but to upgrade the hosting solution we were on.. which means the hosting is costing 4 times the amount of the previous one.

So basically, with the rest of the previous hosting package, I only have 1 month left of hosting time... basically I'll probably ask for donations very soon to help maintain the site and hopefully we'll get a few extra from Amazon soon.

We'll make this work, and we'll also try to have a sponsorship from the label or band in some way, but we all know this might never happen.

However, all the "server too busy" or "service unavailable" should be gone forever!

Does ordering from Amazon via the link here get the site a percentage of cash made from orders or a set amount per order/orders? Or anything at all??? :confused2:

We get 5% commission on each item you order over there.

The only gimmick with Amazon UK is that they don't pay before you get to 100 pounds... Amazon US is 50$ USD.

But the lack of official site makes all traffic go here instead...

Sorry if this sounds stupid Nic, but does that mean 5% on every £100 per individual customer, or 5% on every collective £100 spent via the link on NOOL?

I've got a few busy months gift-wise coming up, so I'll make sure I use the NOOL link if each customer has to spend a certain amount before you benefit.

5% on every sale through the link but they can't collect it/get paid until the balance is 100 quid.

I don't think I could make a living out of Amazon, but I can say that we actually got near 50% of the monthly hosting fee in 2 weeks...

But still, I don't dream in color, I know for a fact that all these will disappear with the traffic once the album will be released...

However, if I ever reach the 100 quids, that's 3 months of hosting just there... ! plus the percentage increase with your amount of sales, up to 7.5%, but I doubt we'll reach this, it's for power sellers ;)

Thanks for clarifying that lads. Suffice it to say, I'll help out NOOL at every opportunity.

On that subject, if any NOOLers in the Republic Of Ireland are reading this, I'd definitely recommend using the amazon uk link. Since I've been using them, over a year now, I've found the service very reliable & very fast, and it works out cheaper than most shops here. Well worth the 5-7 day wait. Plus it'll help a fairly decent website! ;)

Ok, so I removed the caching of the thread list (this was probably useles) and I put back 50 threads per pages...

Those were 2 very annoying things IMHO.

No it was not your connection... they pulled the plug... AGAIN on us today.

They just put it back on to check a few things, it seems the forum has problem to work well under serious load.

What I did is now the forum can only be accessed to people that have logged on... sorry, but I had to do it while I can fix this damned problem.

I don't really have time to work full time to optimize the website, but those crazy people suggested I moved to another level costing a lot more.. and there is no way I'm going to do that... I'd prefer to run the website from home than doing this.

People, it seems that we still have problem, I just can't believe it.

The solution would be to have one machine for ourselves, and I might just have found the solution, it can even be cheaper than the current one.

So don't worry if NOOL goes offline soon, if it does, it'll be back up VERY quickly...
