The worst track on the new album is 'working overtime' sounds like the Monkees having a bad day.  The reggae track that all the press are moaning about, i think is quite good.  Sounds like the Orb.  Standout track is 'turn' Barney as his best me thinks, the song makes you wanna cry.  Overall a back to form classic.  Roll on the British tour.

The worst track is defo GUILT IS A USELESS EMOTION followed by       I TOLD YOU SO which reminds me of some song performed by "some-lady-but-dunno-who" but it goes something like this: "Please come back to me in Casablanca, I love you more and more each day as time goes by"

I completely agree on all points. However, as I've pointed out elsewhere, even though I agree track 11 is the worst, even that track has 20 good seconds of PH genius starting at 1:48.

Working Overtime...

I bet you that they'll play this song live, because it is so low-tech and easy for them...it also seems very easy for BS to sing...it is in his natural key.

I wouldn't be disappointed if they did play it, but it is at the bottom of my list...

Working Overtime kicks ass! :thumb:

the bottom 3 tracks, in my opinion (from bad to worse):

hey now what you doing

guilt is a useless emotion

jetstream

working overtime is awesome!!  If only they would make a whole album like that...and yeah I love Rock the Shack too

I'd say I Told You So is the worst.  The music's alright but the lyrics aren't up to much.  Guilt is...a great track but the most embarassing .  I can just picture playing the album for friends and having them go 'what is this crap!?!?' when it comes on.  I like it though.  Very bouncy and a great melody.

Well, at least Parma Mick agrees with me that ITYS is good.

Agree I told you so just sounds silly, I believe the original concept was to mix jazz and flute, but do to the strict divide of flute and non flute songs on the two albums, it got shelved

I'd put Turn in my top 10 new order songs ever.

I honestly don't think there is a bad track on the album. Some have their low points (the backing vocals on Guilt) while some took a while to warm to (Overtime, I Told You So, Jetstream) but they all have their redeeming features. I can listen to this album from beginning to end without skipping.

Hey Now What You Doing... still just can't get into that much.

I disagree though, I think I Told You So is a brilliant risky move, you may not like it, but it shows you they still have the spark to try something different....which I like.....:music:

We should have had a poll on this.

Uhm, how can you be a New Order fan and not fall in love with the sequenced banjo on I Told You So, at least after a dozen listenings? :nonono:

Anyway worst track is Working Overtime, actually the only track which is not very good.

Parma Mick ;)

My least favorite is "Who's Joe".  I think it would naturally be "Hey Now, What You Doing?", but that was the only leaked track I had heard beside Krafty for a while.

Worst: "Jetstream," "Dracula's castle"

Best: "Guilt is a useless emotion," "Waiting for the sirens' call"

I can't believe so many of you are knocking "I Told You So"...

The whole dub/dance hall/raggae movement is pretty strong right now. There's a new electronic dance hall artist named M.I.A. that's exploding over in the UK right now, and is gaining a lot of attention in the underground here in the States. I think NO did something really cool with fusing these dance genres with their brand of rock/pop.

"Guilt is a useless emotion"!

Everyone's complaining about the shitty tracks on "republic" like liar or young offender... same level as Guilt... except that Mr. Hookster is introduced to play some notes.

Guilt is a Useless Emotion is a turd, undoubtedly the worst track on the record. The verse is decent but the chorus is horrible. "Hey Now What You Doing" is also pretty dire, sounds like an Electronic leftover.

The title track and "Turn" are the best tracks on the record. also "Jetstream" is actually a pretty decent track despite all the naysayers......

The album would be perfect for me without Guilt :barf:, Jetstream :nonono: and I Told You So  .

This is actually a tough question in relation to this new album whereas if you'd asked me this of Get Ready I would've nominated at least 4 tracks within seconds, and really meant them for the "worst" tag.  I do feel WFTSC is probably their consistently best album since Technique (I do love Republic but I can see it's weak spots) with lots of standout tracks.  It's simply very listenable and flows excellently, unfortunately alot of fans have mistaken this for lack of edge or "no balls", but that's

rubbish.

My worst track would probably be Dracula's Castle, or Jetstream.  DC sounds like something they knocked out during their coffee break and while it's not a really bad song, it doesn't leave a memory imprint (see Close Range from GR too) with me beyond the piano intro.  Jetstream is obviously their attempt at a top 5 single and I dislike the Ana Matronic guest spot.  As far as I'm concerned New Order LPs should be guest-less, bar the production side of things which is interesting to shake up now and then.  I do detect a whiff of commercial cynisim from the band over Jetstream especially as the Scissor Sisters are extremely popular in the UK at the moment.  Let's just be thankful she didn't turn it into a mid 70s Elton John boogie as most of her band's debut is.

Overall I absolutely love Waiting For The Sirens' Call next to Get Ready.  So many great tracks on this one; Morning Night And Day, Guilt, Turn, Hey Joe etc. the list goes on and on.  I'm convinced it will sit as a classic alongside Technique and Low-life eventually.  Get Ready had too many clangers, too many non-starters and too many guitars in the mix.  WFTSC is what I wanted from the band in 2001.  Better late than never really! :thumb:  I can't wait to hear the raft of new material they apparently have written and "put aside".

Ally.

 Amen - well said that man (or woman?)

What peeves me is that if you say you like this album, you have 'rose-coloured glasses' on. Seem that the only real NO fans are the ones who say they're shite

Worst track is probably Working Overtime, or I Told You So. Those two haven't really grown on me after many listens. Dracula's Castle is a bit of a dud, too. Jetstream is cheesy, but admittedly I'm slooowly learning to like it. The rest are class. I don't know why so many people dislike Guilt. That was the track that I immediately loved on first listen! Might be my overall fave from the album... that or Sirens. Close call. I might/probably grow to like WO and ITYS and DC after many more listens, ad nauseum, so perhaps it's too early to tell. I will say this: I am pleasantly surprised and pleased by this album. It has exceeded my initial expectations from reading other reviews and the like. It truly is a unique experience so don't be swayed by other people's opinions in case any of you haven't listened to the tracks yet! I truly think there's something for everyone packaged in this album.

Woops, I meant to post this under worst track post. :(  Still learning the ropes on the new system!

If I had to pick, it would be Dracula's Castle.  Simply unmemorable and bland (i.e. most of Get Ready)
