Oh how I long for days when Barney was a miserable a git.  It feels strange seeing NO today on TV with Barney looking happy.  I want the old Barney back, melancholic, stubborn, aloof etc, etc.  One of the reasons I got hooked on NO was because of their first performance on TOTPs, they looked as though they couldnt give a shit.  What is the other members views on this subject?

He's still miserable......the time that was recorded he hadn't had chance to get loaded!

There's been a time for the miserable Barney and he was dead cool. Now he's the time he's a happy mature man, and he's alright. He has already given enough and he wouldn't even look credible if he pretended to be still his old charachter... just look how ridiculous people like Robert Smith are, looking always the same as if they were half their age...

An indifferent, pretentious, mumbling 49-year-old onstage would be silly and unbefitting.  Almost as much so as a 49-year-old yipping and dancing about like Ashlee Simpson when her autocue goes on the fritz.

Glastonbury 87, classic comedy. Just love hearing him, he's totally out of it coming out with comments like "That's the last song to finish with big endings, big spongs, small dicks"

And that version of Temptation, classic lol! My aim now is to get a video or DVD of this gig. Actually I done a thread on the old forums not too long ago dedicated to the Glastonbury 87 gig.

It depends. He can't really be aloof forever. He's also become a more confident performer (hence the dancing antics on stage). But, it really doesn't matter to me. As long as he doesn't put a mannequin in his place and cue up "The Beach" - instead of BM - to play.
