What in everyone's opinion is the best New Order or New Order related single of the last five years - starting at Raise the Pressure through to Get Ready?

I'm going to go with Shine. I fuckin love that song still to this day and maybe even more so than the first time I heard it on the cd. Maybe it's because it has taken on personal relevance, but damn it's a fine song!! And I would have loved it had it Barney....but alas, you can't always get what you want.

I think it has to be "What Do You Want From Me" - I prefer that to Crystal (cue flames.....). When I saw Monaco do that on TFI Friday it just blew me away. Fookin' awesome !

I must admit, I did get a lump in me throat when it had Hooky doing WDYWFM from Top of the Pops, on the Rock Family Trees special about Manchester, or was it Factory? And Hooky goes, "I'm back", or something.

Do I have a head injury? What is Out of Control?

The Chemical Brothers track with Barney on vocals. Almost good enough to be New Order

Yeah - me too! "Shine" - by Monaco, the closest relative to "Regret" there is. Fab tune! Fave track on that album Music For Pleasure too, "Happy Jack" ain't bad either. No Electronic songs figure in my list, sadly. They've never matched that first LP of theirs. As for Other Two - "Unwanted" is good, "Ripple" (aka "Common As Muck") even better. So there's life in the old camp other than from Barney yet.....

And I was SO surprised to see that single do so well - almost top ten! I never thought I'd live to see the day a Peter Hook "solo" project would become a chart hit. Surely a fluke then.

Oh yeah - still on Monaco - I thought "Kashmere" and "It's A Boy" from their second, ignored, album were also good, the former however spoiled by a bad arrangement (I've since done a much better edit of it for my own listening pleasure).

Yeah - me too! "Shine" - by Monaco,b] "Shine" sounds too much like a Oasis song (specially the chorus) in my opinion.

Patsy boy, if you haven't heard out of control, make it your absolute priority to do so. A fuckin brillant tune, backed with an equally brilliant Sasha(Alex Coe as Hanky would call him) remix

Patrick, 'Out Of Control' is rightfully chosen by a lot of posters as it is one hell of a song that blows you away.

But I would recommend you 'Surrender', the whole Chemical Brothers album which is amazing, also featuring, apart from Barney's, collaborations with former Mazzy Star Hope Sandoval and Mercury Rev's Jon Donahue.

Seb and Klumpy, thanks for the recommendation! It's now on my list! In fact, it is the entire list, since nothing else is on the list at this point.

Patrick if you don't have any Chemical Bros stuff their other two albums are of equal worth 'Dig you own hole' and 'Exit planet dust' and if you need any more recommendations for you list, do you have 'Morning Dove White' by One Dove? I'd recommend that to everyone.

Thanks, Wank. One Dove is a name I haven't heard.

Someday, perhaps, maybe someone will agree with me that 'Morning Dove White' is a lost masterpiece.

I think "WDYWFM" is even better known than "Crytsal": they played it everyday on R1 for months after it had exited the charts - a phenomenon whcih usually signifies a tracks "true" popularity.

Klumpy: I don't think Sandoval is "ex-"Mazzy Star just yet - there's rumoured to be a new LP out late next year. Do you have her solo record? Oh Lord! Along with the Order and Tindersticks, its my fave of the year. An aural lovelorn valium haze if ever there was one. Music to overdose to, and recommendations don't come any higher.

Theyve got a new one coming out in the new year which is of some interest to me as well. Hoping to hear them previe a lot of it when I see em on NYE. Have to admit to not being a huge fan of Dig your own hole - bar the excellent singles

'It doesn't matter' is a track I would have for was right up your street Seb, I'm not a big fan of there attempts at 'indie' I first saw them live in Cream, I think they played there at least twice that I can recall. From what I remember, could be a contender for one of my top 3 gigs, both of them, they were pretty good at Ally Pally NYE 1999 D.J.ing.

Martin, I think I heard they had split up... But I wouldn't bet on that one. Hope you're right... I'll have to check on miss Sandoval...
