the bravery (again)

Heard that song "An Honest Mistake" again today while driving around...and suddenly I thought, 'Well damn, that sequencer line sounds awfully FAMILIAR to a certain Blue Monday.'  That would explain why I thought it was so catchy.

Ride the 80's revival and make a quick buck. The singer looks like a washed-out, greased-up gothicized version of Morrissey, anyway. :barf:

I'm so glad music has taken a turn to copying great music rather than being individually shitty though.

Just listened to it once more. On closer examination, the sequencer line could've been sampled straight from 586. It sounds SO CLOSE. Just imagine Barney singing "I see danger..." over the first few seconds of the song.

they've sold out their second tour in a few months in much bigger venues i believe so obviously the kids like them.  you do wonder what tehir next material will be like though - will they progress?

much like kasabian - can't see where they can go from the last album.

I really like "The Bravery"...Yes, the chord progression is similar, but you could compare the chord progressions of any band...it is hard to escape...

I think they are somewhat original...they are riding the Killers bandwagon though which is all the rage now.

If New Order's Waiting for the Sirens' Call is so average, why does Alexis Petridis give it three stars (Factory record, March 18)? New Order have always been a patchy band but that's their greatness. They can do average stuff alongside the best you've ever heard. Petridis goes on about thirtysomethings being happy because they'll have their nostalgia satisfied. I don't need New Order for that. I just have to hear the Killers, the Bravery or Interpol.

Apparantly The Bravery are not influenced by New Order, but New Order were influenced by the same New York clubbing scene that The Bravery are.

The Bravery claim to only know a couple of New Order tracks.

They are a very good band though, both in album and live. I am seeing them again in May.

Better catch it while it last, the reaction is already starting with the launch of the opposing scene, which will be lead by the likes of Kaiser Chiefs and which will prevail because it's more commercial.

Soon liking bands like The Bravery will be as uncool as liking Slowdive in 1994... unfortunatley scenes don't last anymore as they used to do... six months and you're finished...

Still, better to sound like bands from 1980 than bands from 1966, right?

This scene is still the better we've had since Oasis and the other Britpop retards ruined everything!

heh... people always bitch about bands taking from New Order.. who in turn were just emulating the groups that influenced them. i think it's time for a lot of so-called fans to get off their high horses and stop playing that game.

personally i think the vocals on The Bravery are a little week, but both of their videos so far have done very well on my club night "Unconditional" & "An Honest Mistake"... i think the material is a lot stronger than what new order is throwing at us these days, but that's usually the case when younger groups come around w/ new material.

Prompted by this thread, I just listened to An Honest Mistake for the first time and it sounded pretty good to me.
