Spotted this short article whilst doing a bit of late night surfing.
For those of you who aren't familiar with "Mrs Merton"; it was a
reasonably
successful and surreal UK chat show and also the OAP alter-ego of
Hooky's
ex-missus, Caroline Aherne. Hooky provided backing music for the
show with his
house band "Hooky and the boys" while "Mrs Merton" used to affectionately
take the piss out of him and the band between guests. This was
during his long
haired, leather trousered
Revenge period and emphasised a complete clash of styles with the near
bondage-like Revenge in one corner of the studio, and the blue-rinse
audience in the other 
The rather bouncy, happy theme tune for the show
was aggressively reworked as a bonus track on the US version of Monaco's "Music for
pleasure", same melody and structure though.
Hooky's mentioned in the article, as well as his infamous fight with
Aherne's next boyfriend in a very public place! You definitely
wouldn't want to get on the wrong side of the Hookmeister 
Aherne herself seems to be a bit of a lost soul these days with all her
depression, unfortunate thing to happen to anyone really :(
