We all remember the 'fuss' around the John Denver 'rip off' on TECHNIQUE.

So which artists can claim rights on WFTSC?

Obvoiusly the Monkees track (last train to Clarkesville) starts working Overtime

also I hear some Fleetwood Mac on Hey now what you doing (mainly in the guitars near the end - Rumours period F Mac, possibly The Chain)

Anyone else hear any others?

There are miniscule reflections of REM in 'Hey Now What You Doodling'.

any particular rem track(s)?

Its mainly the jaunty riff at the beginning (i.e. in the opening few seconds) which can be heard on occasion throughout the track. Very 'Loosing My Religion-esque'.

But again, we're talking miniscule inflections. NO really do have their own sound.

If we're talking cribbing for cribbing's sake, obviously nothing beats Special from The Republican.

Yup, i hear the REM rif now, its obvious once you know where to listen.

a lot of the atmospheric intros have pet shop boys qualities to them.

Morning Night and Day makes me think of the Velvet's Foggy Notion

Hey Now What You Doing could be an Oasis track.

I Told You So contains something that sounds very much like Grace Jones' "My Jamaican Guy" and ends with a nod to the Happy Mondays' "Hallelujah" and "Wrote For Luck".

Krafty recycles an Electronic synth wash.

Working Overtime is obviously The Stooges' "1969", but with MES-style megaphone use maybe?

There are others in there, I've heard echoes of something else in almost every track so far.

*I* can hear an actual lift from the Pet Shop Boys in the intro to Round and Round, but from a previous thread on the issue, it seems nobody else here can...

15 to 30 seconds on the album version of Round and Round (or at least I think its the album version, I tag mp3's badly and the CD is upstairs). Tagline of Its A Sin by the Pet Shop Boys.

Yes, it took me a few listens to get my ear tuned, but they are quite similar - not quite the same but close!

I still say the clanging riff at the start of "Turn" sounds extremely similar to U2's "New Year's Day".
