I would think she is staying at home to take care of their child. If she was able to come on the tour, then she might as well be on the stage performing!

She was at the NME awards, so I do think she's able to get away. And I thought she looked quite good there.
Following on tour and performing on stage are two very different things, even if you believe that at best Gillian was a single-key button pusher. I'm sure her appearance on stage would have the 'ardcore in joyous uproar, but the rest of the audience probably doesn't even know she left the group.
Gillian was in LA in the last tour with them, so I can see her going for a nice Palm Springs vacation [ip] , maybe take the kids to Disneyland [<:o)]?
But I'm sure she wont perform
Is her child still ill? In the new Mojo magazine, it says that Gillian quit the band, that AT THE TIME, her child was ill.
she certainly won't bein the audience!
most likely on the side of the stage (with her sister watching as well a la brixton 2001?)
Gill and the kids were even at the BDO's in Australia! Should imagine she'll be at some gigs, but carting two children around, say, the US might be a bit much. Maybe she'll just rendezvous with the band at the last date like the Area:1 stuff?

Not 100% sure but I think she's better now. :)

Wouldn't be the first time.
'Rooting' obviously changes impact outside of these fair shores.

What the fuck is with the assholes that have to make fun of everything that is posted on this message board??
Do you guys have anything constructive to post or do you have to practice being douche-bags 24 hours a day?
I love that term "douche-bag" ![]()
As for Gillian, she's obviously permenantly gone from the band and their music. Shame but there you go although I'm sure she'll be in attendance at a number of the UK gigs at least. I've heard various rumours that she wasn't exactly the part holding the music together for all those years. But from reading that "Classic tracks" True Faith article with the Stephen Hague interview she was apparently very dedicated and just got on with her work quietly. She's missed but Phil's obviously here to stay (ho ho).
I'll get me coat...
Ally.

Is it available on this site anywhere?

See the "a history in cuttings" thread for more links but here's the direct link: http://www.thieveslikeus.co.uk/nool/sos200.pdf It's a great read that one, credit to the dude who scanned them in the mentioned thread.

VERY interesting article Ally, thanks for that. The bits about Gillian were good - sounds as if she has a very natural ear for the melodies - sitting in the background with the headphones on & coming up with the fully formed pieces - not many can do that so well.
The part about Steve's 'silent snare' raised a smile - you could do some damage like that! & Barney being 'accidentally' locked in, wonder who did that?;)
Was that her at the NME awards? I thought it might be, but it's hard to tell in Media Player. She seems to be looking good these days. Did they not do any group pics with her with them after they got the award?
