Just a quick question for anyone who owns the Krafty mixes (PRO15313) Promo CD with the black cover and the five remixes. I was making some MP3s from my one the other night when I spotted that my disc is actually a stamped CD-R and not a normally pressed CD. I was surprised because a) I didn't know it was a CD-R up until I examined the table of contents ring and b) I was talking to Spotnick online and he's told me his same black Krafty promo is in fact a normally pressed CD.

Weird. So we have some CD-R and some normal CD copies of the same promo floating around? The black cardboard sleeve and the "stamp" info on my copy looks 100% genuine London Records. I have the WFTSC Promo CD too and it's a stamped CD-R but I knew that as it was in the description before I bought it. My Krafty promo genuinely fooled me as the whole disc is stamped black and unless you really examine the data side it seems like a normally pressed CD. Anyone else with the CD-R version out there or is this a rarity? If you examine the underside inner ring where the disc table of contents is there should be a "CD-R" written somewhere, if not, you've got a normal CD.

Yes, the top of the CD-R has the black pressing and the Krafty font etc. Looks totally normal which is why it fooled me for so long. The data underside gives it away as a CD-R though. I'm just curious to see if anyone else has this item. The sleeve is identical to the one that comes with the regularly pressed CD "Krafty black", I checked the discography.

All 4 promos I have are silver discs (so pressed CDs) and not CD-R.

(3 Krafty + 1 WFTSC)

Nick, is that definitely including the WFTSC cardboad sleeve one? My album promo is definitely a CD-R but the sleeve and stamping look genuine London. Out of all four promos I have from this period so far; WFTSC + Krafty black are stamped CD-Rs with genuine sleeves, and the 2 Krafty white (1trk + Andy Green 3trk) are silver pressed CDs.

This is getting confusing!

Ally, I picked up the three promo CDs but later found out there were a few variations. In a previous thread nuts said:

... if you didn't already know there are 7 different promos for krafty.(i have them all of course)1,pro15273 1 track card slv pro (normal silver lettering)2,same as above but a krafty pro cdr with folded paper sleeve (same as all the other london cdrs.3,pro15273 1 track card slv pro with silver embossed lettering.4,pro15314 3 track mixes card slv pro (normal silver lettering)5,same as above but a krafty pro cdr 3 track mixes pro with folded paper sleeve (same as all the other london cdrs)6,pro15313 5 track mixes card sleeve pro (black)7,same as above but a 5 track cdr with the folded paper sleeve

It sounds as though you may have one of the CD-R variants but in the regular promo sleeve?

I think you're right. The sleeves I have are definitely not "folded paper", they are regular cardboard. There was obviously some "slip them into different sleeves" going on at the pressing plant. Now the question is should I indulge my collectors lust and get the normally pressed CDs too or just leave it? Bank account ain't looking too hot these days so I may leave it for a few months; I have the music after all! :music:

Don't talk to me about bank accounts! My NO budget's blown for April already and some French eBayer has just stuck another very tidy selection of stuff up for auction.

Urgh ...

I will update the discography with all this.

Ally, don't hesitate to scan the whole thing.

I believe there are 2 promos of the album, one without artwork and one with artwork, I believe the first one was a CDR...

I will do that this evening Nick when I get a chance.

The second album promo you have is obviously a properly stamped CD. Tell me, when you say "without artwork" do you mean the "extra" artwork included in the final jewel case release or simply the orange "No" cover + back tracklisting?

Because my CD-R cardboard sleeve looks identical to the one you posted in the other thread.

Actually I never got the first promo, but Chris Nash got it... all I have is the cardboard with artwork and a proper album with a sticker written "PR Copy" on it.

I was told by Press Councel that I would receive 2, one promo and one promo with the artwork, which I believe is the cardboard one... the PR copy was from Germany, but it's a full copy of the album.

I've got the black silver pressed promo, but my white promo is a CD-R.

There's a couple of the CD-R's for sale at Vinyl Exchange, as well as the normal silver pressed promos.

l8rs,

There is another Krafty promo unlisted that I have...

It's the one I got from France, everything is exactly like the UK one, except non-embossed and the text is black, and the CD itself has the text and outer ring black.

And it wasn't mint... :skeptic:
